What would you think if you got this
To preface, yearly we get together with a bunch of friends , go apple picking and bake pies.
Today I get this email from a friend who shall remain nameless.
OK...Just spoke to friend 2 and she had a great idea:
1. We were thinking it would be best if everyone pre-measured out all their dry ingredients to bring to friend 3's. That way all we'll have to do is peel and slice our apples and bake. I bolded all the dry ingredients for ya! Here's the Recipe:
Orongonque pie crust
6-8 peeled and cored apples (sliced thin)
3/4-1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons of flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
dash of nutmeg
dash of salt
2 tbsp. of butter

I think it's a good idea, though I'm getting the impression that, to you, this is all part of the fun when you get together and would rather do everything together.
If that is the case and you are bothered by this suggestion, I would just say something.

So it's not like you are making them? And she is purchasing the crusts, right?
So maybe she thinks it's easier to just premeasure the ingredients prior (less mess) and then you girls can assemble them together and relax more?

OK...since I am the "nameless friend", I will respond to this.
FIRST of all...we go to the same girl's house EVERY year to make the pies.
Not only does she supply all the ingredients for us every year, but she also makes dinner for everybody and our kids (she doens't have any children). Plus she works CRAZY hours and barely has time to breathe.
Both myself and another friend thought it would be nice if we brought our own dry ingredients.
IT TAKES 4 SECONDS TO MEASURE OUT ALL THE STUFF WE NEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLUS...it's less stuff to have to take out, measure out, clean up at our friend's house which will give us MORE TIME to actually hang out with each other (all of us...not husbands and kids in one room with us in the kitchen) because we all only get together MAYBE 2 times a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry Pauline, that you think this is such a big deal. I do not. I cook, enjoy cooking, and have all these ingredients at home. For me...this isn't a big deal. You are making this into a friggin catastophic event.
And to bring this to LIF is absolutely !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, that's just wrong to post on LIF when your friend is on here.
Perhaps there could have been an easier way (someone bring salt, someone bring nutmeg), but this sounds like it was just being thoughful of the hostess, which is always a nice thing.
After hearing the whole story I think it would be nice if dinner was pot luck and everyone brought something. The poor hostess sounds like she does all of the work every year.

cause I was being funny. I even emailed Val to check out LIF. So know one should think I was doing this behind her back.
And she knows how I felt about it (the email), I called the moment I saw it.
I'm not trying to make this catastophic. I may be PMSy so I wanted to see if my reaction (are you freakin kidding me) was an overreaction.
PS- friend 3 is my cousin who is an angel and the least cheap person I knoe. Val isnt cheap either- but she is a bit compulsive (which is one of the reasons I love her)
And yes val- the people love you!!!!!!!! And overwhelmingly agree with your analness

I know the thread has taken a different trun. But I honestly didnt even think of that. I was imagining a pinch of salt in a ziplock, flour in another bag
So now it does seem much less of a big deal, and that has nothing to do with the response from this thread.
To all of those who feel bad calling Val anal, I apologize cause I should have said a nameless LIFer
