Re: What would you do to my (soon to be) den?
Well, you know about the grey I used - I love it. I actually plan on using another grey in our guest room - BM Cement Grey OR BM Stormy Monday. They're both on the same strip, one is darker than the other...and I can't decide where I want to take it.
Pottery Barn started teaming up with BM and now put out color charts telling you which color they used in which room. It's good for inspiration - it's actually what inspired me to use the grey in our guest room.
I love the idea of putting a bar where the blocks are. What room is on the other side of the blocks? As for removing them, I would think you'd have to go around them unless you want to get glass everywhere. You know, knock into the surrounding wall to loosen the blocks. I think - I don't have any experience.

I used a slightly darker beige than you have in those pictures. It made a big difference. I really like it, but I may even go a shade darker than what I have already.
I am sure that the glass blocks are easy to remove. They aren't supports or anything like that.

I like BM's winter lake, james river grey, and oxford grey. I chose oxford grey for our basement and I love it, it's more bluish grey though.

Re: What would you do to my (soon to be) den?
I don't know greys at all, I used a lot of various beiges in our house and I wish I had been a little more adventurous. I remember Colleen's pics - that grey is gorgeous. The bar idea would be really nice, or maybe you can even knock down the wall all together, depending on what the other room is. Sorry I'm no help, but good luck and congratulations on your new home!

Re: What would you do to my (soon to be) den?
just keep in mind that whatever grey you use, it will probably come up darker than you think because there is minimal light that comes into that room. So if you're going to do grey, i'd stay with a light grey because darker would close off the room too much IMO.

Re: What would you do to my (soon to be) den?
Thanks everyone!! We did the walk through yesterday and it went great!
the room behind the glass blocks is a guest room that was turned into a storage room. DH wants to keep the storage room and I want the guestroom so we dont know whats going to happen with that.
aliwnec10- your right about keeping it light, i dont want to close in the room too much.
Scott- what carpet would you suggest? I was thinking about starting a post today about carpet colors. We're def. re-doing all the carpet in the house. I like the light colored carpets, but everyone thinks Im crazy with the baby...

What about a berber carpet? Those wear really well, and you can get a light color without worrying about stains showing so much. Love the new place! Good luck!
