What would you do?
Friends have invited us to go to Hershey with them and a bunch of our other friends and kids too. We would really like to go. I know we would all have a great time together. Here's the problem. He told me the hotel name and I looked it up. The reviews are terrible! Lots of issues with cleanliness I don't know what to do. I'm not a total hotel snob, I can deal with dated or limited amenities if I have to. But I really have a hard time with dirty. No one should have to stay in a filthy room. Is there a nice way to suggest something else? Should we just suck it up? I think there's already 4-5 families booked for this trip. I don't want to come across as being a snot. Or should we just decline even though we want to go?

Personally I'd probably suck it up because it's 1, 2 nights tops. How much time will you actually spend in the hotel?

Re: What would you do?
I would offer to hang out and meet them there for everything but stay somewhere else because I would not be able to sleep in funk. I would not go if they didn't like that idea.

if you can find a similarly priced hotel you like, I would suggest it.

This. Let them stay where they want but I would not stay somewhere I wasn't comfortable with. I'd still go and meet them at the park. for dinners, to hang out at night, etc- I'd just sleep elsewhere

Re: What would you do?
The problem with staying somewhere else is that we wouldn't get to hang out with our friends at night. It's not like we could put our kids to sleep and the leave them in the hotel to go to another hotel.

Re: What would you do?
Can you book another hotel nearby? This way you can offer to hang out at either hotel (preferably the cleaner one... LOL) after the park at night. You and your kids can sleep in clean rooms and let them sleep in the dirty place.

I would decline if you don't want to stay in another hotel. Skeevy hotel rooms are such a turn off to me.

This. I'd rather sleep in my car to be honest.

Absolutely! It would be bad enough if it were just DH and myself but I would really hate my kids being in a dirty hotel.
Can you nicely say you are big Trip Advisor fan and happened to see some bad reviews then have another option of the same price range to offer instead?

I would probably just fib and say that we have to stay at xxxx hotel because we have points, etc., and ask if they want to join you.

Re: What would you do?
The decision has been made, we're going. There are already 5 other families booked, so we're just along for the ride. I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed that we get a clean room.
I'm hoping since it's the off season, they will be more on top of the maintenance.
