What would you do?

I have been seeing my dr since last march. There are 3 drs in the practice and you kind of see all of them. I feel the most comfortable with the female in the practice. I had two m/c and they were really great about them and so sweet, but I had testing done after the last one. I called on last Thursday to find out the results and they were not in yet. I then called Friday at 2:30 and the phones were already shut off. I called MOnday and spoke to the nurse practioner who at first told me everything was normal and then noticed one of my levels was slightly elevated. She briefly explained what they meant but did not elaborate or tell me what it means as to future pregnancies. She said the dr would call me back Tuesday evening. She didnt! I knew the dr was not in on Wed but I called and left my work number. I got a voicemail on my cell from the dr who told me she wants me to call a hemotologist and to call her back to discuss this further. I called at 2:30 and again their phones were shut off. I called 3 times yesterday and was told she would call me back.....the last time I called she was in emergency surgery...I didnt hear from her yesterday and she is usually not in on Fridays. If this were you, would you switch drs? I found out about a great dr right near my house, but I dont want to start all over again.
Help!

Re: What would you do?

Yes I would. That is unacceptable and i have left dr's in the past for less than that! If you can demand a copy of your test results. You can interpret them yourself or I can help you. Just call and talk to the receptionist, say you want a copy of your test results faxed to you. You will probably have to fax over a letter giving your permission. Since she said to see a hematologist I am assuming you have some sort of thrombophilia. MTHFR is one factor V leiden is another. These are not life threatening but both may cause miscarriage. I have MTHFR. Call and get your test results. If you need help let me know.

Re: What would you do?

I am going to call and pick up my records next week I think so I can bring a copy to my new dr. (if I switch, which I am leaning towards doing) I have slightly elevated levels of anticardiolipin. Thats all I know! Thanks Melijane!

Re: What would you do?

I would absolutely switch MDs. You really wouldn't be starting over from the beginning. You can sign releases to have copies of your entire record sent to the new MD. The only thing you have to do is get adjusted/comfortable with the new MD. Good luck!!

Re: What would you do?

I know this is going to sound ridiculous but I feel bad, like I am going to insult my dr. But at the same time I really want someone who will call me back.

Thrombophilia- means blood clotting....there are few different disorders. You would have to have tests done to know if you have it.

Don't worry about that. You should keep copies of all your testing in a file.

Re: What would you do?

here is some info for you. Th treatment is Lovenox usually. This is a subcutaneous injection. Its not bad at all once you get the hang of it.

I'm sorry you had to deal with that. You're patient! Yes, I would transfer docs as well as your entire file so it's not exactly starting fresh. Good luck!

Re: What would you do?

I would def switch. After all you have been through you need an office where people are there and responding to you. Not returning phone calls is unacceptable. I too switched drs after 10 years with the same ones after my m/c. Sometimes it is in a situation like that where you see how they really DON"T care about their patients. Sorry your struggling with this but I would def change now. Chat Icon

Re: What would you do?

Thanks everyone! I am going to switch or at least if I dont switch i am going to start with a Perinatologist I think. That is what my therapist advised me to do and she has been working in infertility for a long time so I value her opinion.
She gave me a couple names and one of them takes my insurance so now I just have to call on Monday.
