What will you not be doing when you have your second baby???

I know one thing is that I would not spend so much $$ on the bedding. Also I went out and purchased so many PJ's he wore them once some of them he grew out of them so quickly..you like and you learn.. but the bedding is what really kills me...

yes, I agree about the bedding, what a waste.

I wont:
-give a pacifier after 1 yr old
-gain as much wait when pregnant
-listen to others telling me what to do

I will:
-try BFing
-give formula in a sippy cup occassionally
-savor every moment (hopefully I wont feel like I am in such a whirlwind)
-go with my gut
-enjoy seeing my DS be a sibling

The only thing is I will take the bottle away before 18 months old.

My ped suggested that I completely have her off bottles by 18 months. She only has one bottle with her last drink of the day since she was 12 months old so I figured it wouldn't be hard to discontinue.

Boy was I wrong. That bottle became the equivalent of crack the minute she hit 18 months! And now she asks for it at other times of the day and throws a fit when I give her a sippy. (I don't cave on those drinks though, and eventually she takes the sippy.)

Everything else, I'd gladly do again. I didn't go crazy with the baby stuff (mostly due to space reasons) and I've been very happy with the items we did buy.

I won't be buying bedding.

I will do everything in my power NOT to share a room after giving birth.

I would like to try for a VBAC

I will BF for longer than 2 months.

I like this post.

I wouldn't:

-even buy bedding, just sheets (I had to remove all of DDs bedding by 4 months--and now it is sitting in a box in the attic-what a waste)

I would:
-buy only enough clothes the baby would wear in a week (I wasted so money on outfits)
-try to bf longer

I will not work an 80 hour work week 7 weeks PP.
I will not carry a pager and leave right away when it goes off.

I will not let the next one make going to sleep a 90 minute affair.

I will not save anything for the "next one" either

I won't pump for 8 months, I would go right to formula.

However, other than that, I wouldn't do anything differently! I live by the philosophy that all the choices that I make are right for me at that time!

I won't worry if I can't BF or not. I will give it a shot and if it doesn't work I will move on. I will not let others pressure me.

And I am more aware of the way I want my children vaccinated. So I will start this baby on the schedule that I think is right for my child.

I have my 2nd and I really did nothing different since DD is turning out ok and I really didn't buy much new.

But what you will not be doing when you have #2 is sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will not rock the baby to sleep every time he/she takes a nap or goes to bed

You all listed some great things! I am filing them in my memory bank for #2 that I am expecting in April.

One thing I definitely won't do is really heat bottles. DD is 23 months and still wants her milk warm!

I hope to have a different approach to night sleeping but I still haven't figured out what I'm doing wrong so I don't have something to change just yet

Oh, and introduce a pumped bottle sooner and more consistently so I don't have to stress again about refusal to take one.

I would have pumped more to stockpile. And if I could have been a SAHM I would have BF for a full year, but can't really change that.

Would have done CIO earlier, b/c DD was clearly ready for it before 13 months when we started.

No rocking/shhhhhing to sleep. No falling asleep on the bottle (still goes to bed at night like this).

Will savor every minute like I have with DD

For me...it's more of stuff with the newborn stage...

I will insist that I get to hold the baby or at least have DH hold him/her close to me right after childbirth. I had a c-section and didn't see her for the first 24 hours.

I will also insist on the lactation consultant coming right away. They never came once to see us in the hospital.

I want to try much harder to breastfeed. And if I can't breastfeed I want to pump for longer then I did with my DD.

I don't think I will do anything different. Jared turned out just fine-he is a wonderful sleeper and eater.

I hope this next baby is as easy as he was in the beginning.

these are some things I will do differently if I have #3:

I agree about the bedding

Take more video & pictures

Really REALLY ENJOY every second-

even when Im having a tough time,
because it goes so quickly
(sounds cliche, I know!)

If I get Pg again, I will really enjoy pregnancy (as much as you can enjoy being pg!)

I tried to do EVERYTHING when I was pg the 1st & 2nd time.....made every party, tried to not let anyone else down....
I f I get pg again,
I would like to slow down and be selfish a little!
hiring a cleanng lady from day 1, take more help form family that offers,
nd not try to do it all!

Agree on the bedding!! that was crazy.. i dont use a piece of the bedding set, not even the sheets b/c they are soo rough. talk about a waste.

Also buying too many diapers of one size.. at the beginning i bought so many of one size she outgrew and then gave them away.. wish i kept them now for baby #2.

I don't think I'd do too much differently. Agree with other posters though about the bedding...I won't buy a whole set. The only other thing I can think of now is don't hold off on the pacifier! We waited a few weeks and once we finally let her have one it was wonderful for all of us!
