I used bottled water. At first I used only "nursery water" until my Dr. told me it was not good to give the babies flouride.

ETA: I was told not to use tap water since we had well water.

Re: What water do you use preparing the formula??

If you're avoiding BPA bottles, you shouldn't use bottled water. All bottled water is distributed in BPA bottles... and the water has likely been sitting in there for months!

we use brita water..... we don't boil it. I'm trying to NOT keep everything sterile around DS... I think his immune system should be gently introduced to all the little germs in his environment. (understimulation of the immune system is believed to be the primary cause for allergy development)

Use tap or boiled water. Bottled water isn't regulated at all.

Re: What water do you use preparing the formula??

I use poland spring. I was actually considering giving my son tap water but when I met with a woman from EI she told me that if you use tap water it needs to be cold. Hot tap water can contain metals from the pipes, according to her. My son will only drink warm formula so I can't be bothered running tap water and warming bottles all day long. I know that bottled water isnt regulated but we always use Poland Spring and we've never had an issue.

I used to use mainly RTF formula but on the occasions that I used powdered I used bottled water.

Re: What water do you use preparing the formula??

We used filtered tap water. Boiled water concentrates any tiny amounts of metals and solids that are in the water naturally. Bottled water isn't regulated, and often contains chemicals (Poland Spring settled a lawsuit out of court over chemicals in their water).

We've used plain tap water as well when the filter wasn't convenient....

Tap water run thru a Brita pitcher. Ped recommended tap because tap is actually strictly regulated whereas bottled water is not. We have not had any problems Chat Icon
