Growing up, I wanted to be: Marine Biologist

I went to school for: Culinary Arts (Last minute decision to go to culinary school after receiving scholarships to various schools for Marine Biology)

Now I am a: Mom...trying to start up a photography business. My culinary degree wasted on chicken nuggets and hot dogs

Growing up, I wanted to be:
A TV reporter



I went to school for:

Commucation-Radio/TV/Film and Journallsim

ETA-I had several internships in TV. Saw that the hectic pace was NOT for me. Worked in PR after that.

Now I am a:
Elementary School Teacher (went back to get my masters in education)

Growing up, I wanted to be: An actress, an astronaut, a doctor, in the FBI, a teacher, a dancer...

I went to school for: Marketing & Finance (Still dont know why)

Now I am a: Financial Analyst at a dead end job that I hate!

Growing up-a lawyer, then international business

went to school for:first-international business and got bored
second:english
third:psych/social worker

I am currently a case worker and going for my masters in social work but would love to do more writing like I used to.

Growing up: acting!!! But I always played school. I also wanted my own store b/c I loved cash registers.

I went to school: At first for art history and drama.

Then I went BACK to school for education.

Now: I'm a teacher! In lots of ways, teaching is like acting b/c you are always on!

Growing up, I wanted to be: A teacher, a counselor, lawyer, police officer

I went to school for: I got a BA in Social Sciences hoping I could be a School Counselor or teacher at some point was so unclear at that point soooo..

Now I am a: Well I spent 10 yrs in Corporate America as Buyer and knew it was not for me.
So I am currently working on my masters in special ed full time.


Just curious to see if your life plan was what you thought it would be : No, not all. Lot's of regrets, BUT I realized cannot live with regrets just move foward and start making plans for the future so I will be a teacher some day soon as planned.

Now I am a: part time AA, out of desperation after I was laid off from my Web search job

I went to school for: communications/marketing/journalism

Now I am a:
was a reporter, realized it wasn't for me, went into Marketing and never looked back. Worked my way up and am a Marketing executive today. LOVE my job and am very happy!

Growing up: I wanted to me an elementary school teacher

I went to school for: elementary education (BA) and special education (M Ed)

Now I am a: high school special education teacher (I didn't deviate much)

I wanted to be a veterinarian, but went to school for teaching and am happily working in my career choice.

Growing up, I wanted to be: A writer or a doctor, then a clinical psychologist working first in a hospital setting then in my own home based practice

I went to school for: I have a BS in Psych but I also took all the pre-med requirements just in case

Now I am a: project estimator working at the company my father owns.

Totally not what I wanted...but the future perks (travel, great $$, flexible schedule) are keeping me where I am. Someday I'd love to go back to school and get my masters and doctorate


ETA: When I was a teen I always said I was going to be a career woman- no husband no kids....when things got serious with DH, I said married with a child by 30...so at least I achieved that

Growing Up: Wanted to be a lawyer, and if not a lawyer then a Language Teacher/Professor

I was: a French major in college and a double major with Pre-Law/Political Science

I went to : Law school and now practice as an attorney.

I never had a life plan. I don't remember ever wanting to be in any specific career.

Sadly, I still don't. But I'm a SAHM mom for the last 3 years and quite happy doing what I'm doing. (Pre-SAHM, I was an admin. asst). Oh and I have a BA in Communications.

Growing up, I wanted to be: a doctor or a lawyer

I went to school for: political science (undergrad) then law school

Now I am a: a lawyer - although I would have never predicted that I would practice securities law.

I went for my bachelors and masters in Education and English.

I'm in my sixth year teaching ELA at the same school and I love it!

Although now I'm in school for teaching so my life plan will eventually pan out.

I was in marketing/sales, did some finance, accounting and a little HR.

Growing up I wanted to be a doctor. I was pre-med in college (biochemistry major). I changed my mind but stuck with the biochem major. I went to law school and became a lawyer

I often think I should have stayed with my original plan!!

growing up i wanted to be a backup dancer like the ones you see on the music videos. but in reality i wanted to be a teacher.

Kinda didn't have one.

I wanted to be a dancer on B'way. Gave up the training for it because I was scared that I wasn't thin or pretty enough I also wanted to write.

College: majored in parties and boys while still dancing, doing some theater stuff, writing.

Now - I do dance pretty regularly but don't feel the need to perform. Writing is slowly but surely getting there.

Wanted to be a doctor (brain surgeon) or pediatric nurse practitioner.

Went to school for pre-med, then changed to respiratory therapy.

I'm currently an RT who just graduated from nursing school I'd still love to go to med school, but I don't think it's in the cards.

Growing up I wanted to be rich. I wasn't as concerned with how I would actually be rich, I just wanted to be rich. As I got older I started to consider being a lawyer and then I was convinced I was going to be a TV reporter.
I went to college and majored in journalism. I could have gotten an entry level reporting position in timbuktu, but I didn't want to move away from home. So I worked for a newspaper as a designer for 4 years.
I am presently a dance teacher and mom. I'm able to be home with my kids during the day, and I teach in the afternoons/evenings. I'm also off al school breaks and summer like a teacher. I knew that I could always do this, it was my moms dance school, but I never really wanted to. Now I couldn't be happier. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.
As for being rich, ummmm not so much. But we are comfortable, so that's good enough for me!
