The truth hurts and sometimes people just don't want to hear it.

Never trust anyone again!!! Chat Icon Not even those who are considered to be friends (or in my case, the father of my child). I must look out for me and only me. Everybody else is secondary.

How important it is to live in the moment and appreciate what you have at that moment. Trying to remember this lesson every day!

1 - to not be so trusting
2 - not to take anything I have for granted
3 - the power of family and friends...don't know where I'd be without them.

Re: what was the biggest lesson you learned in 2008?

ive learned that patience is a virtue and that you shouldnt jump to conclusions about people or be judgmental. im still working on living it daily, but its always in the back of my mind.

ive learned that being angry over little things that i have no control over is a complete waste of time and energy.

ive also learned that theres alot of negative people in the world and that lifes too short to listen to noise. so im promising in 09 to block out the haters and just do me.Chat Icon

Almost everything is fixable if you think hard enough about how to turn it around.

2008 was a rough year for us, and I am amazed at how well we handled things and how much stronger my DH is than I thought he was.

1. Let those close to you help.
2. His way is the right way too.
3. I can't rob people of their need to give, just because I'm uncomfortable receiving. (Monetary gifts ladies...nothing dirty!!! Chat Icon ) In other words, being a giving person means allowing others to experience the pleasure of giving.
4. Benevolence is of the utmost priority in all relationships, big and small.

2008 was a wonderful year for me. I will continue to practice what I learned. And I know it will be difficult. Maybe 2009 can teach me how to do that!!!

I learned to be careful with who you give the power to hurt you. It may mean leaving myself a bit closed off, not as open but in the end it is worth it. If you give people this power, they can destroy you. So now, besides my husband and my family - I will never give myself freely to anyone. It was a hard lesson to learn.

I learned that its ok to relax. I used to be a nutso when it came to cleaning and whatnot and it drove DH nutso too. Now Ill let the mess go (sometimes)

And, I've learned to keep things to myself. Not everyone needs to know every little detail about something.. Chat Icon

I learned that the saying about losing all your friends when you get married is very true... even more true when you move away even before you get married. Chat Icon
