What to give for a Christening Gift?
IF its tommorow and I dont have time to go get a bond or anything like that?
DO I write a check to cash? ( seems Tacky?) ....Give Cash ( we dont have much...)
Is Clothes or toys even an option?

Can you get anywhere to get her a nice piece of jewelry?
I don't think anything is wrong with giving a check. I think they'd understand that you aren't up for running out shopping

Re: What to give for a Christening Gift?
What about Tri County for the jewelry.
Not sure about the outfits, I've never given any for a christening. When I am a guest I give a check. As the godmother, I've given $$$ and jewelry

Re: What to give for a Christening Gift?
I usually give a $50 check- for some reason I never have time to get a bond. DD just had her christening and she got mostly checks, cash and bonds.

for family it would be a bond or check or a peice of jewlery. For a friend an outift or two and a check.

I always write it out to the child. One of their parents would be able to deposit it to their account, assuming it will go into their account.

same here! Also, it prompts the parents to open an account for the child.

Re: What to give for a Christening Gift?
I always make the check out to the child. For DS's christening I received checks in my name and in DS's name. I personally do not think clothing is appropriate for a christening. Any jewerly store has infant jewerly if that is what the way you going.

I am godmother to my niece and want to get her a cross. I know Things Remembered has baby jewelry and I was going to look in my town jewlery store.

Same here. I know too many careless parents that will spend it, and the child will never see it. Writing a check to the child I HOPE makes them at least think twice.

Re: What to give for a Christening Gift?
I think that your/his family would really understand your giving a check. As for baby jewelry, Fortunoff's has an entire line.
