What to bring to BBQ?
My DH told me last night that it's "required" to bring a side dish or dessert to his friends BBQ that we're going to today. Can you guys suggest something inexpensive but a good dessert to bring to a BBQ? Honestly, we never go to BBQ's. No one we know has ever had one. Thanks!

Re: What to bring to BBQ?
Bake a cake, a batch of cookies, etc
Or, just go to your local supermarket and pick something up

Re: What to bring to BBQ?
Here are some simple things I got from a friend who is always BBQing...........
Spanish Rice:
Just boil a few of those bags of minute rice and dump a jar of salsa in. You can also add a can of corn, black beans, garbonzos, etc.
Salsa dip: 1 can of corn 1 jar of salsa 1/3 bottle of BBQ sauce 1 can of black beans Tostitos to dip 'em in.
She usually leaves the Salsa dip out all night for people to "munch" on.

Re: What to bring to BBQ?
- Bake a cake (I *might* try to make the flag cake which looks very simple - just frost in white, then decorate with strawberries and blueberries on top)
- Bake cupcakes (this is what I usually bring to places and it's always a hit - already pre-portioned, no plates needed, etc)
- Make or buy a fruit bowl (especially for a warm day, this could be a big hit)

Re: What to bring to BBQ?
I just made dirt to bring to a friends. It is very easy to make, I got a pail and shovel and 4 instant chocolate puddings, a quart of heavy cream, milk, and oreos. I mixed up a box of the chocolate pudding with a cup of heavy cream, and a cup of milk then put it in the pail and then ground up some oreos in the food processor and dumped that on top. I repeated 3 more times and then its done. You can decorate it with gummy worms and things like that too :) It was a hit last year. I also made sand with vanilla pudding and the vanilla cookies. This year I didn't make both.
