what makes your hair thicken during pregnancy?
Is it the hormones or the prenatals? I'm still on the prenatals bc I am BF but all my newly acquired beautiful thick hair is falling out

It's actually not that your hair thickens, but you stop shedding your hair daily like you normally do when you are not pregnant.
When we aren't pregnant, everyone loses a certain number of hairs per day. Something about hair going through a life cycle or something like that. When you are pregnant, the hormones make you stop shedding your hair. This is why a lot of women think that their hair is getting thicker.
A few months PP, your hormones start to balance and you start shedding all the hair that you should have lost during those 9+ months. It comes out in handfuls!  
But give it a few months and you won't be shedding so much anymore.
ETA: This is one of those wonderful things nobody ever tells you about pregnancy!

omg I know it's awful! Oh well....I was just getting used to my new hair-shampoo-commercial-worthy hair!

Hormones make it thick and hormones make it fall out. It's wonderful while it lasts!

I just started noticing mine within the last week.. it was so nice and thick, strong and soft and now its a thinning brittle dry mess... Anyone ever try those vitamins for hair and nails? Do you think they'd be safe with BFing?
