what is your biggest concern postpartum?

For me it's 1. BF which I'm terrified of for many reasons the biggest being I won't be able to do it or it being incredibly difficult and cause a lot of frustration.
2. Sleep deprivation. I'm a huge sleeper!!!! One of those people who have to get 7-8 hours or they're complete zombies and who considers naps as their favorite pass time. If I have to be up for anything and know I will get less than 7 hours as a result I will obsess over it and won't be able to enjoy myself...
How about you?

Re: what is your biggest concern postpartum?

just take it day by day - those were my fears too

a little formula is fine for your baby too - this coming from a mom who nursed her son till 1 year old - my son had latching problems - ask for help and if you are getting conflicting info follow your insticts and/or find one person that can answer the question entirely - ask here for help and ask family members for help - my son really would not latch for 2 weeks but i pushed and got him to - my mom was biggest supporter and that helped me

I love sleep and to nap too. it is amazing how you just learn to function and sleep when you can - nursing was easier because after a while - i took a nap while my son nursed - you find time to sleep andcan function on less than you think - but don't forget to ask for help or take it when offered

Re: what is your biggest concern postpartum?

Bf, adjustment to having a family of 3, taking care of a newborn, my relationship with hubby and how it may change, and I hate to be vain and I'm embarrassed to admit it but losing the baby weight. I freak over what I'll look like postpartum.

Re: what is your biggest concern postpartum?

1. losing the baby weight. I used to be very heavy in high school and lost about 100 pounds. Over the years I fluctuated and was at my thinnest/healthiest on my wedding day. Now I feel HUGE all over again and fear never getting back the body I had when me & Dh got married (not that he'd love me any less, but you know what I mean).

2. a BIG one is my dog. I have 2 of them - one who is a complete angel and so good with children. My other is a monster. He doesn't TRY to hurt anybody, but he gets excited and is NOT good with kids. Lately he's been very disobedient too - to the point of us considering just having to get rid of him (which makes me very sad). I fear my baby's safety around that guy just because he's too hyper and so far had proved himsef too stupid to train Chat Icon

Re: what is your biggest concern postpartum?

1. how my DD who will have just turned 2 will react to the new baby.

2. BF- tried with DD, hated every minute of it, felt extreme guilt for quitting and now I feel like I should give it a try again even though I REALLY dont want to. already feeling the guilt and I am not even due until July.

3. losing baby weight + lots of extra I have. I need to be a fit mommy for my babies.

Same as you... REALLY want to EBF and so concerned about how I will deal with the sleep deprivation. I am not pleasant if I don't get enough sleep. Chat Icon

Re: what is your biggest concern postpartum?

My biggest fear is tearing and/or having an episiomoty, but I guess that's more of a during labor concern. Nothing freaks me out more than that though! I guess I'm also concerned about sleep deprivation and getting back in shape ASAP. The actual baby care, breastfeeding, etc doesn't concern me too much for some reason.
