What is your basement playroom flooring?
Wanted to do a poll but cannot on my iPad so please reply with what your basement playroom flooring is.
I want to do a fun plaid or checkered old school linoleum floor with an area rug or play/town rug but DH thinks it will be too hard to play on a tile floor over concrete.
I grew up with linoleum over concrete basement playroom. Never cracked my head or chipped a tooth in the basement!
Carpet is just not for me in a playroom. Our basement is totally dry and mold free but I cannot hold to strict no food, no crafting rules (which by the way will be my crafting area) so vacuuming crumbs, spills, play doh, threads from sewing projects and glitter out of carpet does not sound fun to me.
Please let me see that more people have tile or laminate flooring over carpet in their basement.  And if you did not do carpet, did you do floating with under lament or glue down?
Doesn't matter, I will get my way!

my friend just did the pergo tiles in her kitchen. they are so nice! they snapped together and look like tiles but seem warmer and very soft. she said they're very easy to maintain. I was also going to suggest carpet squares.

We have carpet in our basement. We have hardwood floors all throughout our house. My basement IMO is more "cozy" with carpet. This is how I grew up too

We have carpet, but our house is small and my basement is really my living room too. We got super thick padding and Berber carpet. I agree,,,makes it cozier. The rest of the house is all hardwood..

We have a low pile carpet that the previous owners installed. It's in perfect condition, but down the road if and when we replace it, I'd probably try to do wood flooring like the rest of my house.
I think your idea with the black and white tiles would look really cute.

when we redid our basement, it was a no brainer. ceramic tile.
we have the foam tiles and one area rug.
carpet is very mildewy, and even if you dont have a mildew or flooding problem, its still a basement which is underground.

I think your idea with the black and white tiles would look really cute.
I was not going with black and white. My plan is to be fun with it as it is primarily a playroom. Linoleum is not just for classrooms anymore. 
A pattern like this using two shades of blue and white.

We have carpet. It is Berber. We have no problem with mildew or anything like that. I like it because it is very cozy down there and I don't have to worry about the kids wrestling or falling and getting hurt. DS is prone to smash his face on floors. Ceramic tile would be a huge problem for him.

We have carpet. When the kids are older and the carpet goes to sh1t we will replace it with either hard wood or laminate.
