what is wrong with some people...?
Last night I went out to coffee clotch with a girlfriend and a couple of her friends..I knew the other girls except one.
We talked about their work issues, IL issues, shopping and the like b4 someone asked me how far a long I was. It was at this point that my girlfriend pointed out that this was mine and my DH 6th child. I received the usual "OMG" "what a full house" etc.
My girlfriend then made a comment about how we just go married so I explained that 3 of the girls were mine and 2 were his and had planned on just leaving it at that..well this one chick (who had been quite the whole time) said really nasty "so you dont really have 5 kids..blah blah blah..its not like you've given birth to 5 kids or anything"...My GIRLFRIEND mind you NOT ME..felt the need to explain to this chick that I had given birth to a set of twins and that they died so that this was in fact my 6th child. This chick went on to say that she didnt feel that that really counted!!!!!! After 5 minutes of like complete silence we all changed the subject and moved on...
Upon leaving I heard her make a comment to another girl about how its not like my sons "were dead and buried" or anything. It was at this point I felt the need to point out to her that as a matter of fact that they were buried at Pinelawn.
You should of seen the look on her face...she tried to brush it off by saying that she was just sick of pregnant people and that all they wanted to do was talk about their pregnancy etc...
UGH!!!!! The funniest part was that the last thing I wanted to talk about last night was being pregnant...and especially not my sons!!!!

oh dear lord what was the point? Was she soooo determined to be "right" that she made you listen to that garbage spewing out of her mouth?
I am so sorry....what a friggin nightmare. (And I understand that your friend was *trying* to save you, but maybe you need to let her know that the information she shared was not hers to make public).
 sorry your night out with the girls was so awful.

Some people just don't know when to stop. They keep shoveling that big foot of them and keep on going past the ankle.
What you said only shows her lack of knowledge and her trying to justify her "stupidity". Obviously, NOT a "bright one". She did not know what she was talking about but kept insisting. Typical!!!!!!
Sorry! I am sure it was not the night you had hope for.

People have some serious issues! I'm sorry you had to put up w/that conversation at all, its really sad that people have no compassion or sensitivity to others situations and that they can't be happy for other people when they've got something good going on in their lives...what a beotch!!

OMG, I don't know how you didn't lose it. Sounds like she is an incredibly incensitive person. Noone should EVER negate someone elses loss.....I am so sorry you had to deal with that.

Oh my gosh I am so sorry...... I didn't know about this, but what an inconsiderate and nasty girl this was. She should have made ammends after putting her foot in her mouth at the beginning, but instead she followed with both legs, didn't she?

OMG...Im so sorry.
I have been there. I delivered my daughter who died and peopel act like it was just a M/c and not a real baby etc. I have heard those words" wasnt a real baby"....
People are stupid plain and simple at times. And Im so sorry you had to go through that.

thanks everyone!
all in all I dont mind talking about my sons, should it come up in conversation.
the question of "how many children do you have?" is a difficult one for me b/c I never really do know how to answer it...Do I include the boys and make the other person uncomfortable..is leaving them out disrespectful... I never really know what is TMI.
Right now I just say that this MY 6th and leave it at that...this is actually the first person that has questioned me on it....

That is a difficult question.
When Im asked ( as PG now) ...is this your first, I usually have to say, either yes, or first I have made it this far with.
But once I have him,w hat do I say then?
That girl needs a real dose of reality to hit her.

It is something that Ive struggled with for 14 years...I just never know what to say...Sometimes I feel that my sanity is better than offending other people with TMI and I just mention that I had a set of preterm twins who passed away...that way I dont feel guilty that I left them out.
For the ones that say it didnt matter then theyve never been to "BabyLand" at Pinelawn Cemetary...
