What is the story with kids and bread-crust?
Where do they learn that they don't like the crust on the bread ?

I have been wondering this myself...
Caden used to eat the crust....
Now...Nope!!!!
Jaedyn can eat every last bit of a sandwich and leave only the crust. It's crazy!!!
Coming from someone who likes the crust I just dont understand it...

DS didn't eat it until I told him that's where all the healthy vitamins are (I heard that somewhere, and don't care enough to actually look it up to see if it's true or not...  ). Once he heard that, now he eats the crust.... 
I also explained to him that an English Muffin is all crust....
We never took the crust off DC's bread. If they really don't want to eat it, they can take it off themselves at least....

I eat the crust and so do my kids. I am sure it is a learned behavior - either parents cut the crusts off sandwiches or they see their friends have the crusts cut off.
I don't think it is innate to dislike crusts.

I don't think it is innate to dislike crusts.
I'm guessing my DS must have picked this up from someone at school or somewhere because we eat the crust, so he didn't learn it here

my kids didnt eat the crust then i told them it would help them whistle like their grandpa and now they eat it all! they still cant whistle by the way! LOL

I think it has to do with the color and texture. DS is crazy about food texture - he has been since we started solids. He doesn't like chuncky puree, it's either puree or finger food with him.
I don't cut the crusts off for him, but if he picks up a piece of toast with crust on it, he spits is back out. (I cut the toast into bite size squares)

I'm 31 and still don't like the crust. I used to eat just the inside of the loaf from the bag and my mom used to yell at me. I just started introducing DS to bread and I've only been giving him the inside part and not the crust.
