We had DS's 4th at Krazy Kidz in Medford and everyone had a great time! Its for little ones, toddlers, and older.

We went to a birthday party @ White Post Farms this weekend and DS had a blast. It's short (2 hrs) but you have full access to the farm once the official party is over.
You meet in the party room, then they take the kids for pony rides, to feed the animals, train ride, then everyone washes their hands and heads back to the party room for pizza or sandwiches, then out to play with the animals again for a short while, then back in the room for cake.
After that, you are free to use the farm for the rest of the day.
I think it is a but pricey though, maybe $500 for a weekend for $15 kids?

I really enjoyed Pump It Up. The grown ups were allowed on the inflatables too - so it was pretty hilarious.
Generally speaking the best parties I have ever been to (all ages) have been home parties. My girlfriend had a carnival for her 5 year old last summer and it was just great. My 8 year old and my 6 year old BOTH had fun (often one will have fun and the other finds it 'lame').
