What is the going rate for babysitters?
One of DS's daycare teachers said she would babysit on weekend nights if we needed her. She didn't say what she wants to make, and I have no idea what people get these days - $10/hr? $15? I don't want to insult her, but I also don't want to overpay! TIA.

I have two but we pay our babysitter $15 per hour. I think anywhere between 10-15 is good.

I babysit some Sundays in NYC and I get $15 per hour, if I do Saturdays I get $20 , anything between $10-$20 is fine, it also depends where you are located, they pay more in the NYC.

On the Island, college kids generally make $10-12 an hour. My sitter who, my kids love, asked for $10 but, because I want to keep her, I pay her $12.
