what is going on with me?

my cycles are getting longer every month.

i used to be 30/31 days, not they are about 35/36 days and I am CD 23 now and not even 100% sure I've O'd yet Chat Icon that could make this a 37+ day cycle!

I have had EWCM since last Tuesday so today is day 7 with EWCM, not temping or using OPKs this month so I dont know for SURE if I've O'd yet.

EWCM seems to be less/CM more "tacky" since Sat night so maybe I did O on saturday?

Chat Icon Chat Icon why does it have to be SO hard? Should I be concerned that my cycles are getting longer?

sorry for the vent Chat Icon

Re: what is going on with me?

I'm sorry I don't have an answer-but I just wanted to tell you I'm noticing the SAME thing happening to me! When I first went of BCP I had a consistent 25 day cycle. Like Clockwork AF showed up on day 25. but 6 months later I'm getting longer and longer cycles. The last two have been 30 days. It makes it hard to determine O! So feel your frustration!!

i wouldnt stress out too much over the longer cycles...i have been experiencing the same thing. My last cycle was 38 days Chat Icon

how long have you been off bcp? it could just be your body still adjusting.

I started to use and OPK and temp to confirm that i am ovulating...and I am, so the long cycle is just bad luck i guess. i dont ovulate until CD25! its frustrating but as far as i know, not a sign of a problem or anything. maybe try temping and using an opk to confirm ovulation

Have you ever temped or used OPKs? Do you know if you're ovulating? 7 days of EWCM seems like a long time to me. How long have you been ttc?

Re: what is going on with me?

any cycle over 33 days long is an indicator that something is wrong.

I'm not saying you should start pulling out your hair with stress but you should def discuss this with your OBGYN to see if they can find out what, if anything is causing these longer cycles. it could be a begnin cycst or PCOS.

The longer you wait, the worse something could become, so please make an appointment soon and don't wait until your cycles become longer than 40 days!

Re: what is going on with me?

i ovulate every month (confirmed with OPKs).. this is child #2 and we had no problems with TTC#1.

i havent been using OPKS this month, just trying to follow my body's natural cues and go with it but I am still having EWCM today and noticed it first on 4/3.

i feel crampy today so I just picked up some OPKs and will test this afternoon, maybe I am O'ing today.

We have been trying for #2 since October but have just been going with the flow, using OPKs on and off and BD'ing a ton when I notice EWCM which i always have around O. Chat Icon

My cycles were very consistant until the fall and now are getting longer with each passing month. I used to always O between days 16-19 and more its more like 20-23 Chat Icon

hmmm Chat Icon
im not really sure why the change then.

I was told that OPKs do not confirm that you actually ovulate - only that your body surges. I would try temping next month and if you confirm that you are ovulating then i wouldnt worry too much. if you see you arent ovulating then call a dr and go for a checkup.

just got OPKs and test line is dark but not quite as dark as control, maybe I havent O'd yet... just made another post about this.

once you do O, would a line show up on an OPK at all? does all LH leave your system after you surge?

i have to agree

where did u hear that?

for op..i think u should start using a opk and see when u r o'ing

as long as u r i would not worry bout the length..as long as u do not have a lp defect and ovulate u will be fine

this is not true, at all. having a 28 day cycle every month is not the norm for many people. there are many things that affect your cycle length: stress, illness, etc. your cycle can vary from month to month, which is VERY normal. the part of your cycle from day 1 when your period starts, to ovulation can be very inconsistant, meaning, the day that you ovulate can change from month to month. it's the days AFTER ovulation, called the luteal phase, which is consistant, give or take a few days. temping is so important, because this is the only way that you can confirm that you ovulate every month, and then it will give you insight as to how long your luteal phase is every month. OPK's ONLY tell you that your body is releaseing luteinizing hormone, which is the hormone that preps your ovaries to release the egg. having a positive OPK does not confirm ovulation, nor does it guarentee that you will ovulate. many people have + opk's and then don't ovulate after that. It is also fairly common to have a cycle or two here or there that is annovulatory, meaning, that you don't ovulate that month. it happens to EVERYONE. as annoying as temping is, it is EXTREMELY beneficial, because it takes the guesswork out of determining that you ovulated, and offers real insight to wear any issues may lie in your cycle. for example, you can determine whether or not you have a luteal phase defect, which would be if your time between ovulation and menses is too short, making it hard to maintain a pregnancy when you implant. also, temping every month can give your doctors a better understanding of what is going on in your cycle month to month, and helps if and when you have to visit a fertility specialist. it will also give you valuable info as to why you are not concieving. remember, that window of opportunity is smaller than we think, because the egg will only stay alive 12 to 24 hours after ovulation if not fertilized. so, between temping, charting your cervical mucous, and using opk's and charting them along with everything else should start to give you a good picture of what is going on month to month. If you have any questions, please feel free to fm me :O) good luck, and don't stress. No one has a consistant 28 day cycle, and many people don't ovulate on the same day every month. this is all VERY normal Chat Icon Chat Icon

anytime hunChat Icon please feel free to FM me with any questions. you will not regret temping if you start. i would start next cycle if you get your period and you are not pregnant this cycle. there is a very good book called taking charge of your fertility. it is a big book, but is a fast read, and very interesting. it will give you lots of insight, and you will learn things about your body that you never knew! also, make sure that you have a good Chat Icon plan. next month, start on day 7 and BD every other day until youu get your +opk's, then BD every day until you see that thermal shift on your chart. we' will get you preggers in no time sista! good luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon WHO KNEW tHIS TTC STUFF WAS SO COMPLICATED LOL!!!!!

ETA: fertilityfriend.com is an excellent free charting website. has lots of great info, and if you join and pay month to month, you can chat free with guides on there, and it gives you even more info than the basic plan. look into it :O)

I'm not sure where you got this information, but most women do not have perfect 28 day cycles. FWIW, I got pregnant right after coming off the pill with DS and didn't O until at least CD 20 or 21. I didn't have any problems TTC #2 and my cycles were between 31 and 35 days.

If you want to learn more about your body and cycles, I suggest temping. Chat Icon
