What Infant Car Seat...

did you/are you buying/registering for?

I did the Graco Snug Rider at first because my friend is giving me her Graco snap n go stroller thing.

Now I read all these wonderful reviews about the Chicco Key fit 30.

Anyone have a prference/experience with one or the other?

I know the chicco goes up to 30 lbs while the graco is only 22.

I think though, Graco has come out with a 30 lb seat also.

Also, does anyone know if the chicco fits into a Snap n Go type stroller?

I don't know anything about the Chicco in itself, but I do believe that it won't fit into the Graco, but it will fit (somehow) into the Baby Trend one.

Keep in mind that with the SafeSeat (the Graco car seat which holds to 30lbs) it's a few pounds heavier than the SnugRide, and as your child gets heavier... those extra couple of pounds make a difference. They did for me at least.

Re: What Infant Car Seat...

Well, from what I read in the baby bargains book, the Chico and the Graco where the two top rated infant car seats. I actually went to the store and picked up both of them. I really didn't see a difference in weight at all. They are actually pretty similar. I registered for the Graco Snug ride, because the Chico car seat only goes with Chico strollers, and I registered for something else.
My sister has three kids. From experience, all the infant car seats get heavy and are awkward to carry. I was going to register for the Per perego car seat to match my stroller, but the darn thing is so heavy. It is only a 2lbs difference between the chico and graco, but you sure do feel it.

The Graco Safe Seat goes to 30lbs.

Re: What Infant Car Seat...

I registered for the Britax Companion. Love the rebound bar in case of crash.

As for the Chicco keyfit, it would fit into a universal snap and go stroller.

There are 3 you could chose from:

MacClaren's (BBB has this)
Baby Trend Snap and Go (at BRU, we picked this one since our Britax doesn't have one to go with it either)
Kolcraft (BBB has this)

We really liked the way our Britax fit on the Baby Trend's Snap and Go best. We didn't like the way the MacClaren's basket was only accessible from the front and the way it folded. And we didn't like the fact the the Kolcraft folded down and was the heaviest of all 3.

Of course if you get a Graco car seat, you can just get the Graco Snap and Go. That was really nice but only for Graco of course.

We almost registered for this car seat. I love the fact that it would snap right into my Peg Perego stroller and I love the look of it. Plus it has alot of nice safety features. It was just too heavy for me. I thought I could handle it, but I decided against it. I kept going to the store and holding up the PP and the graco, and I couldn't believe the weight difference. Of course my DH really wanted the PP car seat and told me he didn't feel a difference in weight at all. Lucky for him he is about 10" taller then me and 70lbs heavier. I figured I would be the one lugging it around the majority of the time, so I went with the lighter car seat.

Re: What Infant Car Seat...

We registered for the snug ride. With two, I wanted the lightest, safest one out there - and this was it. It is also reasonably priced.
SOmeone gave us a baby trend snap n go frame, so I hope they fit in there!

I am not concerned it only goes to 22 lbs. We will switch them to the convertible seats when they get to that weight. Truth be told I don't want to be carrying around 22+lbs of baby, +8lbs of carrier x 2!!

Re: What Infant Car Seat...

We are going to get the Graco Snug Ride I believe... I think it got great ratings, and I know it's compatible with the bugaboo which we are getting-- whose frame acts as a snap and go stroller.

Re: What Infant Car Seat...

We got the Graco Snug Rider. It was very highly rated and easy for me to carry. It didn't bother me that it only goes up to 22 lbs.

This is the one we registered for
