what happens now?
I have a friend who just did a round of IVF (pardon my lack of knowledge or terminology!). She got her monthly friend so I guess it is a negative. Now what happens? Do they start again and she can try next month? I know they fertialized 10 eggs and only implanted 2..so I guess they have the 8 on reserve? I just want to be there for more friend and maybe have some encouraging news for her...like at least you don't start from square one again, etc....but I have no idea how this all works! Can they just implant 2 of the other guys this month? TIA

Re: what happens now?
I am sure your friend will explain some of this to you. Generally what happens after a failed IVF is a frozen embryo transfer (assuming there are some left over that froze) or another round all over again. Depending on the person, she may want to take a break to regroup. A failed IVF can be very devastating.

Just be there as a shoulder for her to cry on. Nothing you can say will make it better for her. Just tell her you are there for her if you need her.
I know it seems like you should try to say something encouraging, but it really is best not to say anything at all except that you are sorry.
It is great that you are looking to be a support for your friend.

Just let her know you are there if she needs you. My IVF ended in a miscarriage, though I know I also would have been devestated if it didn't work at all. I needed the alone time with my husband. It helped to know that my friends and family were there if I needed them.

I don't know if there is anything you can do for her but I just want to say, I think it's great that you are trying to get more information and help her. You are a really great friend.

Re: what happens now?
We have been BFF's since 1st grade..she is like my sis...I want to make sure she is OK. She is a tough cookie though!! Plus I am so close with this whole thing (had to give her a shot the other day!) Thanks for advice all....I will just go sit with her and order dinner and watch reality TV.

That sounds like a great idea. Maybe have some ice cream on hand too.
