what gifts would you get a 2 yo boy?
People are starting to ask what they can get my son and he has SO MUCH STUFF that i just don't know. I'd almost prefer him to have experiences rather than more STUFF but I don't want to be rude and say "hey get us a membership to a museum"
What items THAT DON'T TAKE UP ALOT OF SPACE would you recommend for a 2 yo

My ds is 2 and is into:
Play dough
Painting
Seek and find books
His tool set
Tball set
Hockey sticks
Bubbles
Bristol blocks
Mr potatoe head
I agree with you on the experiences too. When people asked for their birthday I gave them a few ideas and also said maybe a gift certificate for swimming lessons. Some people loved the idea!

I Could Have Written Your Post Word For Word. Ds Will Be 2 In A Few Weeks. I'm Hoping To Get Him A Magna Doodle, Sidewalk Chalk, New Crayons, And A Car. Not The Motorized Ones, But The Pedal Kind. For His Actual Birthday, I Want To Take Him To The Zoo Or Aquarium

I have the same problem. I had a hard time coming up with ideas too.
I suggested beach gear, bathing suits, chalks, color wonder markers and paper, water guns. How about a small kiddy pool? Sand box? water table? Riding scooter? gift cards to toys r us so you can get something bigger like a step2 play house or something.

what gifts would you get a 2 yo boy?
I asked for gift cards when people asked what they could get DS - he's 2.5.
He loves going to the store and walking around picking out new things that he actually wants to play with. I still have a few from his birthday in Septmber, I take him every couple of months and let him choose one thing.
He's really into trucks, so we have a lot but he loves them and plays with them so I don't mind the influx. Thomas is another popular choice with him as are arts and craft items - he loves painting.

My son is 2.5 and loves anything on a track...his favorite currently is the Busy Town town hall set surrounded by a track and it comes with a couple of funny little cars. It's not big. He also likes Thomas trains and Matchbox cars. He likes his sister's Barbie guitar and musical instruments in general. For outside, he loves bubbles and chalk. Oh, and he's obsessed with Blue's Clues and constantly goes around with his "handy dandy notebook" and crayons...he loves coloring.

Depends on what he is into. Pick a theme and ask guests to supply toys:
Trucks. Fire trucks, dump trucks, construction trucks. Books about trucks (goodnight construction site, etc)
Trains. These things cost money. Ask for train sets, train books, conductor outfit.
Art is nice too, but my 2.5 year old still doesn't really sit long enough.

We got a subscription to the babbaco.com box which is pretty unique and also a family pass to the nyc zoos. I'm big into giving experiences, like swim lessons, art classes, etc.

he has em.
he has 3 dump trucks, about 200 hot wheels cars, 4 ride on toys, push trike, tricycle, plush rocker, trampolene, innotab, ball pit, train table with thomas trains, pirate ship play hut, rocket ship slide outdoor playhouse, baby pool, kiddy keys piano, drum, 3 toolset / workbench type deals, a cleaning set, ball popper, megablocks, wooden blocks, laugh and learn playhouse, let's rock elmo and guitar, ukulele, leaprfrog reader, art table
AND my mom already bought him a power wheels months ago that's sitting in my garage waiting for his birthday.
not complaining...he's blessed to be so lucky...but this is crazy!
I guess it's gonna have to just be books, DVD's and from close fam they can buy him tickets to local attractions.

Does he have the Little Tikes basketball hoop? It's not that big And my son loves it!
Matchbox car carrying case? My son also loves carrying his cars around.

DS will be 2 next Saturday. In addition to his big gifts from us, and grandparents (a kitchen, a tricycle, and an easel), he is getting the Leap Frog Letter Factory, a little tikes lawnmower, melissa & doug magnet sets, melissa & doug puzzles, crayola color wonders sets, and some little people sets. Other suggestions that DS already has, but loves- his water table, a blow up pool, a shopping cart, leap frog fridge farm, and a bubble machine.

I asked for gift cards almost every birthday...my son is 3 and loves barnes and noble, i could spend all day there so for his 2nd and 3rd birthday i asked for gift cards there
