what does your newborn sleep in? (clothes)

we plan on using the rock n play for her to sleep in at night. how do you dress your newborn for bed? if you swaddled what do they wear under the blanket?
if you used a sleep sack that is sleeveless, what is underneath to cover the arms? or do you not cover the arms?
am i over thinking this? lol bc that seems to be the trend as of late.

My girls were in rnp and our room was hot so they slept in onesies and a and a swaddled with a blanket tucked over. Kinda like in the hospital. They had issues eating and we needed to keep them from being too warm and cozy and falling asleep during feedings. This way we could unwrap them a bit to wake them. Then we did sleep n play Jammie's and a and a or swaddle me. Now it's Jammie's and fleece sleep sack with arms out in crib. Their too is much cooler though. I was always afraid to dress them too warm.

we always used fleece in winter.

DD sleeps in the RnP - cotton sleeper, swaddleme and I usually place a blanket over her. sometimes its too much and I take the blanket off. 68 in her room.

Footy pjs. My dd hated being swaddled. Sometimes id put a sleevless onsie under the footie pjs. Carters makes the best ones.
Fleece in the winter and cotton or terry cloth ones in spring fall and summer.

Sometimes DS sleeps in a long sleeved undershirt and a swaddle me. Or in a footie with a swaddle me.

I strongly recommend swaddling the baby for nighttime. It helps the baby to sleep and also signals, "I'm swaddled, it's time to sleep." I didn't think DS liked being swaddled at first, but since I've been swaddling him, his sleep has improved tremendously.

I also recommend buying a room thermometer so you can better judge how many layers to dress the baby in.

She sleeps in the RNP... we are still displaced from Sandy so we dont have a crib

DS sleeps in the RnP so he can be in our room. He sleeps in a onesie and a sleep and play footie. We also place a light blanket over him. I keep it low so it doesn't go over his face.

DD sleeps in her crib and we swaddle her. We put her in a long sleeve onsie to sleep in.

We used a rnp with a cotton sleeper and a blanket. i felt like the rnp kept her pretty snuggled and she didn't roll so a tucked in blanket was safe.

We put DD in a footed sleep and play and then swaddled her in the miracle blanket.

We had a February baby and he slept in the rnp in our room. We had him in a short sleeved onesie or sidesnap tee, sleep n play, and a sleep sack or swaddled. Or a onesie and a gown with or without a swaddle.

DS sleeps in a footed long sleeved sleeper with a swaddle (but with his arms out). He runs warm, so we sometimes have to drop the temperature or take him out of the sleep sack!

We always dressed DD in 2 layers for bed. They say put 1 more later then you would wear. I figured if I was chilly in flannel pjs then she would need some extra layers.

When swaddled we did onesie, cotton pj, A&A swaddle and a blanky over.

Now we do onesie, pj (cotton or fleece depends on the weather) and a long sleeve sleep sack that Carter's makes. We have the sleeveless ones too that we will start using once its getting warmer!
