What do you think?(BTDT please help)

Last night about 11 o'clock Ryan woke up screaming.... (not crying SCREAMING)

I went to him right away- picked him up- hugged him and tried to soothe him- He was literally squirming and just plain ol' flippin out in my arms-

I laid him down on the floor thinking it was a possible night terror- so in fear of dropping him (Yes- thats how much he was flipping out) I let him throw a fit in the center of my living room- away from everything...

Then I started thinking it wasnt a night terror- and couldnt bare to see him cry- so I picked him back up...

He would settle for a min- then immediately flip out again...

I could not sit, lay down, bend- NOTHING... the only thing that seemed to work was standing straight up while holding him...

He wouldnt even take his binky- which had me floored!

He wasnt gassy- he'd gone to the bathroom normally- ate normally- and generally had a "normal" day.... (same amount of naps- normal bedtime)

He has a well visit today- so Im def gonna tell the Dr.

but what do you think?

I tried holding out on the tylenol- since I didnt really know what was wrong- and didnt wanna medicate for no reason-

But the way he was screaming- I could swear something was bothering him- and figured- at least tylenol would take away the pain- about 15 min later- we fell asleep together in my bed- I moved him back to his crib later on at night- and the rest is history...

The whole saga lasted about an hour....

Could it be a night terror? (DH and his sister were prone to these as children)

Could it be his molars???? (would they hurt more laying down) He was drooling, and chewing an awful lot yesterday!

I know they could be his ears- but he has had 2 ear infections before- and I kinda know his usual- ear ache routine- and this isnt it!!!!

I have to say- for the 1st time- I had no clue what to do with my child- All other obstacles- I knew to try different things, and for the most part was able to figure out what was wrong with him- but last night- I just wanted to hop in the car and go to the ER and just say- PLEASE FIND OUT WHATS WRONG WITH MY BABY?

(I know a little extreme- but it was soooo hard to see him like this)

TIA- for any suggestions or advice!

Poor RyanChat Icon My son did the same exact thing last week (except it lasted ALL night) and it turned out to be a molar coming in and an ear infection. Chat Icon I know when my wisdom teeth were coming in, it would hurt more if I was laying down.

Alex started doing that over the weekend so we brought her to the pediatrician - turned out she has an ear infection and I missed the signals... and on top of it, 3 molars are coming in. Everytime she has a molar coming in, she screams during the night, so that just might be it... those s*ckers are really painful!

Maddie did that a few nights in a row. It took longer to calm her down if I went near her or went to touch her. She would flip out again. I chalked it up to night terrors & waited it out. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Jake has done that before and I held out on the Tylenol too. It turned out to be that he was cutting a tooth so now that I know it's an "I'm in PAIN" cry, next time I will give tylenol.

Hope Ryan feels better.

Zachary wakes up like this all the time. We really don't know what it is - but we believe its night terrors.

Sounds like a night terror. NOTHING soothes them when they are going through this. DS went through them for a year!Chat Icon

Sounds like teeth or an ear infection to me-the molars are so close to the ears in can mimic an ear infection and it hurts more to lie down-thankfully you have a well visit soon!
I hope all goes well and keep us posted.
