What do you think of this name for a girl?
We don't know what we're having and we're not finding out. But I have a name for a girl that I keep thinking about and going back to. Curious what others thought of it.
It's McKell Ryan. The spelling I'm flexible on.

Reminds me of someone I'm not too fond of so in the spirit of name associations ruining names for me I will have to go with no  Regardless though, it doesn't sound like a real name to me. It looks like a nickname based off of someone's last name.

I actually really like Mckell so different and unique but I would pair it with a more girly middle name or go for a Mckella or McKellyn

Seems like more of a last name to me coujd be the spelling. it looks like it would be pronounced like Mikel which I think of as a boys name.

It's funny that you love it because... I see your daughter's name is Emerson, that's my daughter's name as well!! I saw it years ago in a magazine that Terri Hatcher named her daughter that and I said to myself I have to remember that, I love it!!! We must have similar taste. Lol! Thanks for your input. I tend to like different names as well I suppose. Not Apple, Coco different, but different.

I love it!! I love Ryan for a girl but we can't use it bc there is already a boy Ryan in our family. I may use it as a middle name. McKell is really pretty and unique.

We aren't finding out what we are having but if it is a girl it will be Ryan with a girly middle name. I agree McKell Ryan looks like a boy though maybe because McKell... I have a friend names Mikele looks more of a girly spelling. I love the name when you verbally say it but when written it looks more like a boy. do what you want though! It will be perfect.

I get the whole name association thing because I'm the same way. There a couple of names I would just never use in a million years because I know someone with that name that I don't like so much, like my boss for example. Lol!
As for it sounding like a last name and a boys name, that's doesn't bother me. One of my first choices for a girl name would have be Ryan but my nephews name is Ryan. And I would have spelt it that way too. I like it! My daughter's name Emerson, is a boys name as well a last name. Emerson Boozer - Football Player and Ralph Waldo Emerson - Author.
A lot of last names are being used as first names these days... Harper, Anderson, Beckett, Brady, Connor, Harrison, Jackson, Presley, Campbell, you get my drift.
I do agree with maybe trying to use a very feminine middle name to emphasis that it is a girl. I did that with my daughter, she's Emerson Victoria. Maybe I should brain storm for a feminine name I like as a middle name.
I do appreciate the feedback, good or bad. It gives me an idea of what people's responses are going to be if I do go with it. I knew it wasn't going to be a fan favorite.

OMG my dd is Emerson and I found the name by reading a STAR magazine about Teri Hatcher and they said her daughters name. I immediately fell in love and said that I would name my 1st dd that. Well a few trs later I remembered it and now have my own Emerson lol

Yes, I read probably the same magazine. I don't remember if it was STAR or not but it was probably 15 or so years ago. As her daughter is a teenager now!

I haven't totally decided on what spelling I like. I thought if I typed it as McKell people would pronounce it correctly and understand what name I was talking about. I also like the spelling you said Mikele or even Mikelle. I just hope people wouldn't think it's pronounced Mike - Elle or Michael?
Mickelle was another way I guess it could be spelt?

Lol! I punched it into google... never really new who sang that song until I looked it up. I knew Mackelmore sang Thriftshop but I didn't know there was also a Ryan guy too? I can see how it makes you think of that. Hmmmmm?

Totally similar!! And I agree with you, I like different.......not weird. I actually fell in love with the name Emerson a million years ago as a teenager. My parents got me a TV for my room made by "Emerson" and I always thought it was a cool name. I kept it in mind and years later when I had my DD it was my first choice!!
