 | Re: What do you think about showers for the second time around (sprinkle)? I guess it depends on the amount of years between each DC and the sex.
For example if you have a boy and this time it's a girl then I can see having a small sprinkle.

 | Re: What do you think about showers for the second time around (sprinkle)? My first was a boy and I just had a girl so my mom threw a sprinkle for me. I didnt think it was necessary but she invited just close family, cooked all the food and had it at my house. It was a nice afternoon get together. People bought gifts but nothing big like the first shower, just lots of clothes. |

eta: I do think every baby should be celebrated.

I agree, I'm not finding out the sex cause I didn't the first time, but I hope someone will have a sprinkle for me to celebrate this baby too!

How many years later is it?

I had 2 showers b/c my kids are 7 years apart.

Also, sometimes they sprinkle a girl b/c her first DC was a boy and 2 years later she' having a girl. And vise versa. A sprinkle is supposed to be very simple. No registry. Just a GTG to sprinkle the mommy to be with a few gifts.

I like the idea of a sprinkle.

 | Re: What do you think about showers for the second time around (sprinkle)? i had 3 showers.. not big with extended families but with people that wanted to celebrate the new baby and not feel pressured to just "buy a gift".. in my opinion those that were there would have gotten the baby a gift anyway, so why not? |

 ITA.

A friend of mine had her two girls 7 years apart. Even though she saved all of her baby gear a few big items were no longer up to the safety codes.

She did not have a full shower. It was only a handful of us that got together, all chipped in to get a gift card in a large amount, bought some other cute items and we went out to lunch.

We celebrated the baby w/o obligating family and friends to a full-blown second shower.

 | Re: What do you think about showers for the second time around (sprinkle)? I dont agree with them unless there is a huge age gap. And I dont think just bc you dont have another sprinkle or shower, your baby is any less celebrated. I know that is common response to having one - that its about celebrating the baby - but what does that really have to do with it? You can still celebrate your baby without receiving gifts in advance. JMO |

 | Re: What do you think about showers for the second time around (sprinkle)? I also think it depends on the amount of years between the children.
With my 2 kids there is about a 7 year difference and I had a shower. Plus my first was a boy and 2nd was a girl. So I guess it depends on the situation.
