Yup - 4 - 5 spoonfuls of sugar in hot water when you first put the tree up. Then I put a couple spoonfuls in every other time I water (with cold water).

The people who say soda are seeing the results b/c of the sugar in those sodas, I think. Chat Icon

my latest plan is humidifying the tree with the humidifier to get moisture to the whole tree - also the water in the bottom too

Yup. Very hot water and sugar the first time. Cold or room temp water (doesn't have to be freezing) the rest of the time. I don't put sugar in every time. I do it the first time and every few days after that. Maybe every second or third time I water it.

I too do the sugar.

But I also add a splash of bleach to kill any mold.

This also works for fresh cut flowers.

I bought a perserve at one of the stores that was for the tree and it worked great. I don't remember how much it was it wasn't expensive but it sounds like sugar is good too.
