Re: What do you keep your thermostat at?

During the day, between 68 and 70 depending on how cold it is. At night, 66 - our bedrooms get cold b/c they are so far from the main therm, so we have space heaters in each bedroom anyway.

We keep ours at around 71 all the time...never realized how low people generally leave them!

Re: What do you keep your thermostat at?

Around 68 when we are home. It's usually too warm for me but DH is always cold.

At night it drops to around 66.

At work it's 77-80.

Re: What do you keep your thermostat at?

Its at 70 for about 6 hours during the afternoon/evening... 64 for about 2 hrs in the morn just so we're not getting ready for work in the cold.... and its completely shut off at all other times... we have electric heat and its an old unit so our bills are already high without having it on constantly Chat Icon

Re: What do you keep your thermostat at?

68 I work nights so someone is usually home most of the time. We have two zones for upstair and downstairs. I keep upstairs 66 but it usually stays warm there. I put the downstairs low at night since we sleep upstairs.

Re: What do you keep your thermostat at?

In our apartment we have control over our own thermostat. It has a lot of program options:

Mon-Fri 6am-8am 70
Mon-Fri 8am-5pm 60
Mon-Fri 5pm-9pm 68
Mon-Fri 9pm-6am 58

Sat & Sun 6am-11am 70
Sat & Sun 11am-5pm 60
Sat & Sun 5pm-9pm 68
Sat & Sun 9pm-6am 58

However, our kitchen & liviing room windows are not well insolated so on very windy days we have to raise the thermostat because you can feel a breeze in the apartment. Also if my mom feels her wood floor upstairs getting too warm she calls & tells us to lower the heat. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: What do you keep your thermostat at?

lowest 65 highest 68. I like to keep things at 65/66 but sometimes if its a really cold windy day you feel it so we bump it up to 68.

We're at 68-69 though sometimes I sneek it up to 70 when it's really cold out.

During the week - during the day when we're not home - 60. From 5-10 pm it goes up to 66. From 10pm to 5pm the next day, 60.

Weekends, we keep it at 64-66 during the day and 60 again at night.

Re: What do you keep your thermostat at?

69, but when it was very cold in the winter we had to keep it at 72 for the elderly tenant.

ETA: Our windows are REALLY bad- they're relatively new, but they were put in when my great uncle was still living there and this company ripped him off horribly. They did such a terrible job. So our house bleeds heat like nobody's business.

Re: What do you keep your thermostat at?

I keep mine at 68 during the day - I'm home all day though. At night it goes down to 62.

My IL's live in an apartment in our house - they keep the temp at 74 during the day! and my FIL thinks that turning it to 71 at night is low. It is like a sauna in there. I can't seem to get them to understand that oil is not cheap. Thank god they split the oil bill with us.
