What do you have in your planters/containers on your front steps?
I don't know what you really call them
We have 2 large planting containers on our front steps ( which get FULL sun) We used to have 2 dwarf arborvite trees in them but unless we water them constantly they would die, so we have taken them out and moved them..
Ideally I would like something with flowers for the spring/summer or thats evergreen and does well in full sun without constant watering...
If I can't find anything, I'm going to stick a fake tree in there because it always looks so crummy with a half dead tree
Any suggestions ??

Re: What do you have in your planters/containers on your front steps?
do you want something thats an annual ( that you would have to replant every year), or a perenniel, that would come back every year? for an annual, i have one pot on my step and i get some wave petunias for it every year... they get lots of flowers, and do well in full sun. they're pretty in pots because they kind of hang over the side... but you have to get new ones every year. heres a pic.

I love a mixture of stuff. I especially like something that hangs over one side and some taller stuff in the middle-like grasses...

A perennial evergreen would be nice ( is there such a thing ??)
I love the wave petunias, we usually put them in our beds, but that would be a good idea to put them in my planters - they are so resillient to everything !
The pots I have look kind of like this, one on each side of the door ( maybe 2.5 " tall)
