What do you do with your CDs

Since teh advent of MP3 players I really don't listen to CDs anymore. My stereo is totally busted, so I'm going to get an MP3 stereo at some point. After ripping your CDs, what did you do with them? Did you pack them away with/without cases? I don't want to thrwo them out, but I don't need them taking up shelf space either

We put the cd's in binders in cd sleeves and I think we have tossed the cases (they could be in storage but I don't remember).

Still have them and still play them. I'm old schoolChat Icon No MP3 for me.

I still have vinyl older than some posters on this siteChat Icon

None of this should surprise anyone, my Grandmother had 78 rpm's in her house when she died in 1988.

Re: What do you do with your CDs

I have mine in a binder. It's kind of annoying b/c I didn't save the jackets with them. I tossed the plastic cases (much to my husbands dismay)! He still has about 500 cds and 200 dvds in their original plastic casing taking up 1/2 of one of my closets! Chat Icon

Now that I think about it, when you rip the cd's onto iTunes, it automatically downloads the artist info and song title, so I guess you don't need the booklets or cases anyway.

I have MP3 players up the wazoo (and thousands of DL'd songs), but I still buy CDs. I like DJ remixes and those are difficult to find online in MP3 format so I have to resort to buying CD maxi-singles.

My DH built me a CD case so I could store them somewhere:

I still need to hire a service to rip all of them. Chat Icon

DH and I both have IPODs but we still buy CDs sometimes. Both of our IPODs have crashed so we had to rerip the CDs to itunes. We have thousands of CDs in spread out in several different shelving units.

I just stored them away - some with cases, a lot without (I am kind of bad with that stuff!)

When we move, I think I am going to put them in the garage. They are collected dust now.

Re: What do you do with your CDs

we put them (with the liner notes) in binders and threw out the jewel cases.

My DH integrated and alphabetized our collections. I can't begin to explain how much work he put into it but it makes it so easy to find things.

Now it's all ripped and saved on a hard drive but we keep the cd's in the back of a closet just in case we lose the saved music.

Burn them onto my external hard drive, and store them.

We have ours in books with the cd covers/booklets - jewel cases are thrown away. You never know when you'll lose your iPod/mp3 player or your external hard drive will crap out (ours is on its way out).

Re: What do you do with your CDs

Most of mine are in my truck in a binder carrying case. I do not have a MP3 player nor do I want one. At home, our CD's are in the entertainment center!

Re: What do you do with your CDs

We sold all of ours at our yard sale over the summer.

Made almost $600. Chat Icon

We just made sure we backed-up everything on the computer and then put everything on a removable hard drive as well.
