You live in a mandatory evac zone and you are supposed to be in work (hospital, non patient care area).

Do you have kids? If so, I would simply call out. If you need to use a personal/sick day I would do it. You are going to need to take care of your kids and to have them unsettled somewhere that is not home - I personally would not want to leave them and I would hope my work would understand that.

Yes I have a 3 yr old. I have a flexible schedule part time. Of course I scheduled myself to work Monday and Tuesday (before I knew about Sandy).
I am a RN, but I dont work directly with patients.

I have the same dilemma I got an email they cancel all elective surgeries and outpatient services however those who work in those areas still have to report to work. I live an hour away and I'm 4months pregnant. I don't think I'm going in.

Some hospitals are telling non direct care workers not to come in. I would check with your facility. I don't see the big deal with calling in if you aren't really needed. The only thing I could possibly see happening is you not getting paid for the day, although they might only do that for essential workers who call in.
