what do you do?
I see that going to the RE and having all these test done basically you are at the mercy of your body and what happens when. How does everyone handle taking the time off from work?
I did my first (hopefully last ) round of IUI and for 3 days in a row I had to run here there and then work then back again. Luckily my coworkers dont adk anthing but are you ok.
How does eveyone do it? What do you say to eveyone?

Re: what do you do?
I didn't have a problem with work but I have a flexible job. However spending all the time at the re is sometimes overwhelming and its does control your life, your weekends are no longer yours, sleeping in isn't an option but its really just about dedication and the dream.
Just wanted to wish you good luck and much

Re: what do you do?
my boss and i dont see eye to eye to begin with. basically i just told her that i am being treated for a medical condition and will sometimes have to come in late or leave early for treatment. legally i dont think she can ask any specific questions. i told her if she needs a dr. note i will get her one. she's been OK up until this week since we are in a very critical work week. i have an RE appt monday and when i told her id be in late she said i would need a note this time. now i dont know what to do because i dont want to bring in a note from a fertility doctor. i would be OK if it just said ob/gyn or something - but i really dont want her to know what kind of doctor it is. DH said i should go to HR and tell them the situation just so it doesn't violate my privacy...but im changing jobs and giving my two weeks notice ( ) NEXT monday though so at this point i dont think i even care and might not even bring the note....otherwise i might just write the note on non-letterhead and have the doctor sign it so its not his letterhead... not sure how that will fly yet...

Re: what do you do?
who cares what she thinks!! grrr that stuff makes me mad! Im glad ur getting another job - added stress never helps this situation!
I personally told my boss so she would know but she's very supportive. Ive learned that fertiity is not something that I want to share with everyone - moslty because I dont want anyones pity, but when it comes down to it its not that big of a deal to tell some people - its nothing to be ashamed of and even more so if ur leaving.
Good luck w/ the new job or at least congratulations on giving ur 2wks notice. Your happiness and family to be is much more important than any job - even in these times. Of course insurance could be an issue in that statment huh? lol Well either way good luck!

Re: what do you do?
I got a transfer to another school this year when I first started IVF and it was hard. I kept saying I had surgery and while it was true I did have some minor procedures done including the retrieval, I couldnt tell them straight that I am undergoing IVF and they dont ask either...
As far as monitoring, I guess LI IVF has amazing hours where I can get there early enough and be one of the first seen so I can head straight to work... its not easy though, thats for sure!!!

Re: what do you do?
I personally chose a practice that I could od most of my monitoring in the early AM so I wouldn't miss wuite as much work. I didn't have to take any time off with any of the IUI''s, but it looks like I will have to take 2 1/2 days off for the IVF. But I kinda new what I was getting into, so I alloted my days accordingly. (hoping I only have do it once!)
Good Luck

I bet he gets situations like this ALL THE TIME and I would be surprised if he doesn't have some kind of 'neutral' letterhead that doesn't give away that he's a fertility guy ...You should ask! Otherwise writing your own note and having him sign it is a good idea... but I am like 95% sure they have a way around this!!!
For the OP, I just started seeing an RE so haven't run into this problem yet but I did ask about this- and my dr said it wouldn't be a problem to come after work. I'm a teacher and get out at 3 though.. so it's not the typical 9-5+
