At that age both my girls were on table foods. They would eat soft fruits and meats. I would cut pieces of hamburgers up into small pieces. If you can smash the food between your fingers then they can smash them between their gums/teeth.

Also I would give them half a bagel and let them chew/suck on it.

My DD is 8 1/2 months and eats all sorts of purees (but hated the papaya, cauliflower, and cantaloupe I made her). She is beginning to eat small pieces of mashable foods in 1/4" dices, like bananas or very steamed carrots. She tried mushy waffles a few times, and liked them, but the last time we gave them to her she puked everywhere! She loves puffs, zwieback toast, baby mum-mums, and yogurt melts. I'm interested in hearing what everyone else has been doing too.

At about 8-9 months both my girls ate pretty much what we ate, just cut up small.

DS was eating pretty much what we eat...unless it's something that's to difficult to eat or is completely unhealthy (like McDonalds, and even then I sneak him a few friesChat Icon ). And he acts like he just hit the jackpot when I give them to him! LOL

Sorry to crash, but when you ladies give table foods, do you give your DC all of the seasonings with your own food at that age? Do you make seperate, blander foods for your DC?

At that age I used to make it blander..meaning if I was doing grilled chicken I wouldnt put anything on his piece. Now at 14 months he prefers it with the seasoning.

For the OP, at that I age I did rice, mashed potatoes, meatballs, pastina soup, etc.

Just start cutting things in tiny pieces and see what your DC likes.
