This was my dress, it was a regular maxi dress (not maternity) and it was fine. With sales & coupons at Kohls, it was under $40. It has thin straps, I added the shrug.
Link to kohls - it's on sale even cheaper (before coupons) now! Runs big, btw.

be careful about wearing a dress and the length of it. I wore a jumper and long sleeve tee for my shower with DS (baby #1) and I ended up having to put a napkin over my knees when I was unwrapping presents because I was giving everyone a free show.

I wore black capris and a floral top from old navy maternity I had a t pump and needed a pocket for the pump at the time. This time I'm having a little sprinkle only 14 people immediate family ill prob wear shorts and a nice top

MIL's shower I wore a grey wrap dress from Motherhood. Mom's shower I wore a blue maxi dress from Liz Lange Target. I got lots of compliments on it and it was very comfortable.

I am wearing what ever I am comfortable in at the time.
I think it really depends on your shower and you. If you are more comfy in pants then I would waer that.
I am having 2 showers and for one Im sure I will jsut wear jeans and a nice top.

One shower I wore a dress from Destination Maternity.
The other one I wore Leggings and a nice tunic.
I wish I would of wore the leggings and nice tunic to my big baby shower. I felt more comfortable.

With DD #1 my shower was in November, so I just wore black dress pants and a really nice Pea in the Pod shirt that I bought at Destination Maternity.
