What did you do for DC'S Baptism?

Party? Small GTG? Family dinner?

Im so torn.

I want to celebrate it , but I also am on a tight budegt and the money spent will be money lost.

But then I get torn again into having a nice memory of a nice party.

What did everyone Do?

Re: What did you do for DC'S Baptism?

We feel the same way, we don't want to spend a lot b/c it's $ that we could really use elsewhere. We'll probably either do a very small get-together at our house afterwards (if we wait until spring, when the weather's warmer), or maybe just 10 or so people going to a restaurant. IMO, regardless of the size of the party, it will be memorable, so don't worry about that part.

We had a party at a resturant with about 70 people. It was nice, we all had a great time.

We're doing a casual party back at my IL's after the ceremony.

I'm trying to get it catered, but caterers are really expensive so far.

I don't want to spend a whole lot, but it looks like it's going that way.

We invited 130 people for a party in a VFW-type place and only 60 RSVP'd yes. My advice...do it small!

We had a party for about 25 people for all 3 (one at each Baptism). Close friends and immediate family.

Same here. Except we're in Chicago. Chat Icon All of our family came in for it. It was perfect. We got a private room at the restaurant. It was great. The kids could run around & not bother anyone.

Re: What did you do for DC'S Baptism?

We booked a restaurant in Huntington for about 25 people- I was nervous about money too but it was really "expected" by DH's family that we have a party and it would have been tight to have people in our house. We ended up making the money back though (but put into a 529 plan for DS) and it was a nice day.

Well I had 75 people for DS's and we can't have that for DD's. I was able to cut it down to inviting 58 so we will see who comes. We decided to have a bigger 1st b-day party this time (DS's was small).
It will be a memory regardless of how many people you have so don't try and strech yourself thin.

We had a party. I would have liked to have a smaller occassion but DH's immediate family is HUGE (40+) that we had no other choice.

We are having it at a restaurant. Immediate family only. But, our immediate family is 55 adults and 17 kids.

If we did friends - the total would have easily doubled. I decided to have a huge first birthday instead.

Re: What did you do for DC'S Baptism?

Donna we had immediae family and a few close friends. Then the restaurant made us meet a minimum (50 people). If you send out the invites a little late you should get a fair # of people who can't attend.

Do what YOU and DANNY want to do....not what is "expected" or you will be stuck doing what is "expected" for the rest of your life!!

Re: What did you do for DC'S Baptism?

We had a BBQ, but hen again, Troy's baptism was in August. We have an annual BBQ, and made this it. It was very laid back, in our backyard.

If it had been during a cooler time of year, I would have probably just done family only at a restaurant. Our "family only" would be about 15 (including kids).

We had a party at a VFW. We had about 50 people there.

Next time around we are going to do it small and just have immediate family come to dinner with us and the god parents.
