What detergent are you using for newborn/infant?

I'm looking for something "safer" that gets the job done for a reasonable price. I normally use Tide and love it but I don't like this for a newborn. With DD we used the Tide Free and Clear (or whatever it's called) but then heard it still has awful chemicals in it.

Does anyone use a brand that they love but isn't super expensive. DH thinks it's crazy to use green products so I will only get him on board if it's about the same price as other detergents. Chat Icon Chat Icon TIA!

All free and clear. Does the job well and much cheaper than tide or dreft.

All free and clear or Purex also makes a free and clear detergent also.

Re: What detergent are you using for newborn/infant?

When we had ds1 we switched from Gain to All free clear but like you, I've been slowly making the switch to a no chemical household. I recently purchased a small container of Seventh Generation baby detergent to use for the kids while I finished out the HUGE Bjs size all free and clear. After doing some research, I got the regular Seventh Generation detergent since a large one is the same price as the tiny baby one and they have the same ingredients I think stuff marketed towards babies is just cuter and more expensive lol. We now use all Seventh Generation products or Babyganics brand because I find both of those brands to be the cheapest out of the green products.

Household cleaning spray...7th generation
Fabric softener...7th generation
Dish soap...Babyganics
Dishwasher soap..7th generation
Baby wipes....Babyganics
Hand sanitizer...Babyganics
Sunscreen....Badger
Baby wash....California baby
Diaper cream...7th generation
Lotion...California baby or babyganics

And so on. I try to do research and get the products that are the best for you while also trying to stay in our rediculously tiny budget...it's really hard to balance that but the health of my kids is really important. We are also big into the environment, do bay cleanups, apart of surf rider organization, etc so not only are those things better for us, but for the environment which is important.

Also, Babyganics is VERY reasonable pricewise. I find it mostly at BRU but Target is now starting to carry the brand, just not a huge selection. There are coupons in parenting mags all the time and BRU is ALWAYS having a sale like buy one get one half off or buy two get one free. They have laundry soap there and also have coupons in the circulars for large laundry soaps. You can def get it at the same price or cheaper than All.

Thank you for that, I'll have to look into it. If I can find coupons and the price is right, I can definitely get DH on board lol.

I use ECOS for DS. It is made with with coconut oil and is completely natural. We buy it at shoprite, a 100oz container is about $12.

I use All Free & Clear.

Not to offend anyone, but Dreft is over-rated and over priced. You can get a big sixty something ounce of ALL on sale for $11.99

Same or ALL BABY. This has a fragarnce too it so I try to stick with Free and Clear. Also Free and CLear you can get anywhere while Baby can only be bought at baby stores (ie bru or bbb)

ETA: I also use this on our clothes since we hold the baby and its just cheaper than buying 2 detergents.

What detergent are you using for newborn/infant?

All Free & Clear. We bought a big bottle on sale at Target for $10.

Dreft was like twenty something bucks, and in my childbirth class they said it was a marketing ploy, and that any perfume and dye free one will be fine
