Re: What cruise lines have you used? Which ones are good?

I've done a cruise inspection on Carnival and not really a fan of the ship. It was one of their bigger ships and I just didnt like it. Mostly because I didnt like the person hosting the tour. I had Romona from Romania. She was unprepared, the rooms were ready for inspections, the food was ok (nothing to really write home about), really didnt seem like their is a lot to do on board, the staterooms seemed really tiny unless you had a room with a balcony because those were decent sized, and I felt like I was getting easily lost.

Royal Carribbean I enjoyed the ship inspection. Their new ship Monarch of the Seas I would LOVE to go on. So much to do on the ships, food is awesome, tour guide is fabulous, rooms are good sized, basically things for all ages. If I had to choose a cruise ship it would be RCCL.

Costa no good. I had clients who had a hard time communicating with the staff.

NCL is actually owned by Carnival.

Cunard is great. But expensive.

Silver Seas OMG if I ever had the money to go on a silver seas cruise I would. Very Very Expensive but so worth the money.

Princess is great. Owned by RCCL

Princess - we did an older ship - Tahitian Princess - and absolutely loved it!!!

Carnival - done a few, loved them all!!

RCCL - Voyager - not impressed at all! The food was iffy and it reminded us of a mall.

Celebrity - Zenith (an older ship). I absolutely loved it, hubby was expecting more due to Celebrity's reputation.

We would do them all again, except we would need an awesome deal to do RCCL again.

Carnival and hated it went on Fantasy and Jubilee, the fantasy was ok though. would I go on a carnival cruise again? Only if they were giving away suites for next to nothing!

Radisson SEven SEas Cruises - we went on the Voyager an all suite w/balcony cruise ship out of Italy - WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!

want to try Princess next.

I went on 2 so far. Carnival was more active and had more kids/familys. Costa was more alid back and an older crowd. Both were great though. Both were the caribbean. I really liked the food on Costa. We are doing a Princess cruise in June in Europe.

NCL is actually owned by Carnival.

Cunard is great. But expensive.

Princess is great. Owned by RCCL

NCL is actually owned privately

Princess is not owned by RCCL

Celebirty is owned by RCCL

Carnival corp owns:
Carnival, Princess, Holland American, Windstar, Seaborn, Cunard and P&O, and I think but not 100% sure costa

She is right that cunard is very expensive and they work in classes where other ships do not do this.

IMHO - I have been on NCL, Celebrity (multiple times) and Princess.

I would recommend - Celebrity, Princess and RCCL

I think they have the best experience. We enjoyed NCL but after going on Celebrity we realized how much better celebrity was.

I think if you have never sailed NCL might be great for you.

I think for the best experiences you probably will like Princess and RCCL as the top two choices - celebrity is amazing but tends (and now so does RCCL) to be more expensive.

Re: What cruise lines have you used? Which ones are good?

Carnival Corporation & plc is an Anglo-American corporation which is the world's largest cruise operator, comprising 13 cruise brands, including Carnival Cruise Lines, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Windstar Cruises and Seabourn Cruise Line in North America; P & O Cruises, Cunard Line, Ocean Village and Swan Hellenic in the United Kingdom; AIDA and A'ROSA in Germany; Costa Cruises in Southern Europe;
and P & O Cruises in Australia.

Carnival Corporation & plc, which caters for more than 2 million passengers a year, has headquarters in Miami, Florida, USA and London, England. It is a dual listed company which means that there are two separate holding companies which have different sets of shareholders but share ownership of all the operating companies in the group. Neither of them is a subsidiary of the other.

Re: What cruise lines have you used? Which ones are good?

I went on Carnival and Norwegian. Carnival didn't have good food, but if you're looking for a party, it's a good line to go on.
Norwegian is more laid back and really nice - definitely my favorite of the two.

Re: What cruise lines have you used? Which ones are good?

DH and I did Princess to the Caribbean last year. Loved it! It was our first cruise. The crowd was on the older side (we went at the beginning of May) but DH and I didn't care. We weren't there to make friends.
Food was awesome in the dining rooms and even better in the specialty restaurants. The buffet food was pretty good too.

The ship (can't remember the name) was really nice, and our room on the Riviera deck was great. Loved the balcony! Boarding and disembarking was very efficient.

Re: What cruise lines have you used? Which ones are good?

Carnival- have gone on 4, loved them all!

Celebrity- a bit more "up-scale" than carnival, we had a good time, but it wasn't as "rowdy" if that's the right word... still had a great time

Princess to Alaska -- MUCH older crowd but that may have been the destination more than the cruise line. However, they were NOT good about communicating anything to passengers -- why there were delays, upcoming storms, etc....

Re: What cruise lines have you used? Which ones are good?

If you are looking for something in the Summer majority of the ships dont do eastern or western caribbean, bahamas or bermuda as they all do Alaska. From about May to September is big Alaskain cruises. Some go to Bermuda (Costa out of FLL and Princess out of NYC)

Norwegian is good. The NCL Pride of Hawaii is fabulous. Brand-new, luxurious Pride of Hawaii. She'll join U.S.-flagged Hawaii fleet for exclusive seven-day, four-island cruises, departing Mondays from beautiful Honolulu.

NCL's Jewel's unique 7-day cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Miami will let you experience everything the Caribbean has to offer. Visit NCL's own Private Island, Great Stirrup Cay, charming Ocho Rios, magnificent Grand Cayman and Roatán. Or stop in sun-drenched San Juan, Antigua and St. Thomas. No matter where you cruise in the Caribbean, Norwegian Jewel will make your vacation simply beautiful. Also some of the Norwegians are older ships (built in 1988, last refurb 2001) and smaller. The reason they are smaller so they can dock easier. Those ships usually have a much older crowd.

Carnival ships my suggestion stay away from the interior cabins. Cat 1A is like a walk in closet. It's a single and I dont know how it could fit someone with a suitcase. Cat 4A is an interior, no porthole, full bed and a sofa coach that when pushed together make a queen. Anything on a Carnival you'll want a min Cat 8.

If your looking for a short excusion, the RCCL Monarch of the Seas only embarks out of LAX and goes to Ensenada, Mexico. It does a day at sea, a day at mexico, then a day at sea and back to LAX. It's a great little getaway.

Princesses Crown Princess leaves out of NYC. The only thing is you are at sea for 2 days going to the islands and on the way back it's a day at sea, then FL then a day at sea before it docks back in NYC.

Also make sure to get the protection. So many people dont and something happens and they loose everything they deposited.
