what causes low progesterone
Anyone know the answer to this? My usual level post "O" is a 9 and with endometrin 3x's a day it's 12 or higher. So I'm wondering why for this Ivf cycle, where I'm finally pregnant, it's at the lowest its ever been at a 7. Do the IVF suppression meds have something to do with it?

not sure...I am just 6.5 weeks pg. Mine was lower than usual (at 12)and i was on 1 ml PIO shot and suppositories once a day. My dr increased the PIO to 2ml and it shot up to over 30! I wanted it to be higher, so that made me happy!

in a normal unmedicated cycle you ovulate an egg and the remaining follicle, corpus luteum, secretes progesterone. during IVF after you trigger (esp when you trigger with lupron), since everything is forced and not happening naturally, some of the corpus luteum die and don't always take over and secrete progesterone. for this reason pretty much every IVF with a lupron trigger requires PIO, and with a regular trigger many REs still go with PIO. you can do a million suppositories and the progesterone will go right to where it needs to go but it wont dent your blood serum progesterone. only PIO will change the number.
good luck!

I saw you're on supps and not PIO. From what I understand, suppositories go right to your cervix and not into the blood. Therefore, you won't see higher prog numbers in blood tests. However, PIO is an injection and goes right into your blood, making your numbers higher. You should see an increase now that you're back on PIO.
