What are your thoughts?
There's a girl in my office who is about 17 weeks pregnant. She's naturally very thin and is barely showing, however she is wearing maternity shirts (the cute one's with the tie in the back) and everyone is saying how silly she is. I don't particularly think there's anything wrong with it, if that's what makes her comfortable go for it. I just don't know why everyone is making such a big deal about it (saying things like "I hate when pregnant girls wear maternity clothes before they are showing").
I assume she's just excited and really want's to be pregnant (and showing). What do you think about girls who wear maternity shirts (not pants) early?

Re: What are your thoughts?
Hey why not, if she's comfortable that's all that matters. People should just mind their p's and q's.
I had a small waist and was a s or xs depending on which store my shirt was from, when I started getting "bloated" looking it was really hard to keep my shirt from riding up or meeting my pants line.
That's just awful that people are talking like that about her behind her back.

Re: What are your thoughts?
Just because she isn't "showing" on the outside doesn't mean she is not feeling it. At 17 weeks maternity clothes are probably more comfy for her. Why are women like this

I agree 100%.
I wore maternity shirts right away to be comfy.

Re: What are your thoughts?
This is why I have been avoiding wearing any type of shirt that look maternity....not that I'm showing or anything, just my regular shirts aren't really long enough to cover the band on the maternity pants. I feel like people will talk about why is she wearing them
ETA: I'm not so thin

Re: What are your thoughts?
We had a girl like that in my office. She was just naturally VERY thin and reall didnt get any sort of a belly until about 25+ weeks. But she used to wear maternity clothes and also walk around sticking her stomach out. LOL It was funny but we just chalked it up to "Well, that's just Michelle" Some people complained about it - it was pretty silly but she was really excited about being PG and anxious to start showing.
I'd tell the other people "Who cares"

They are probably just jealous because she is naturally thin!

That's what I was thinking! Jeez, I just don't know why people (mostly women) have to be so damn catty .. the girl is PG, she is happy about it ... c'mon now
I am not really showing at all, but I have taken to wearing 'loose' tops just because I feel more comfortable. If the rumor mill is flying at work, well then the hell with 'em (I still have not told work I am PG )

Re: What are your thoughts?
I think the same thing...if she is comfy then that is all the matters! My pants feel a little snug (already ) and I was seriously thinking how comfy maternity clothes would feel right now

Re: What are your thoughts?
she may HAVE to wear that type of shirt if she's in maternity pants already. I was in maternity pants long before I needed maternity shirts, and I found that I couldn't wear most of my shirts with them because the shirts were too short to cover the "band".
I think its ridiculous that people care what she's wearing. If she's excited about being preggo and wants to rush into maternity clothes, good for her!
also, that style is very "IN" right now - they may not even be maternity shirts

I couldn't agree more. ANYTHING a pregnant woman can do to feel ANY amount more comfortable is AOK with me! People need better things to talk about.

Re: What are your thoughts?
Maybe they were hand me downs? Who knows? Now that I am staring every morning into a closet full of shirt that don't button past by chest and pants that don't come close to closing, I can't go out and buy a new wardrobe. I think it makes so much sense to buy bigger then what would fit right now.

Re: What are your thoughts?
I will probably be just like her. I'm tall and very thin. I'm just 10 weeks and my work pants are starting to get a little snug. I won't buy maternity clothes just yet - but I do forsee a problem in the near future. I'd rather buy maternity clothes than just bigger clothes that will be useless to me afterwards.

Re: What are your thoughts?
Maybe it's because her breasts have gotten bigger and her other shirts are short on her. That happened to me very early on. I think people should mind there own business especially since she'll probably pop any day now.

I think she looked cute and I feel bad everyone is talking about her. I do my best to "defend" her and stop the nonsense talk.
Hey I can't wait to wear maternity clothes (although not looking forward to paying for them!) All my pants are getting really tight and my shirts are getting short. So I guess they'll be talking about me soon!!!

Re: What are your thoughts?
As a pregnant girl, I say non-pregnant people have NO business commenting on what I or any other prego wears. People just like an excuse to be nasty.

Re: What are your thoughts?
Whether prego or not...no one has a right to call someone else "silly". Perhaps her normal clothing are tight now and she is enjoying her pregnancy. She has every right to wear her maternity clothes with pride!

Re: What are your thoughts?
LOL! I did that when I was pg with my first. I remember wearing a maternity top at Easter so I was about 10 weeks But I was dying to look preggo, I dont see whats so bad about it even though I am laughing at myself right now. I dont even understand why other people care so much that they must talk amongst themselves about it. Of course Ive been out of the office environment for a few years so Im sure a few days back in an office would remind me how people can be.
