What are your 1 year olds eating?
Hi,
I was hoping for some help on what your menus look like for your 1 year olds.
My DD eats eggs, pancakes, waffles, farina etc for breakfast. Loves banana and will eat it everyday if you let her.
I feel like I don't have enough variety for lunch and dinner.
What do your little ones eat?
TIA!

My girls eat all of that. I just introduced turkey and cheese sandwiches. They eat pasta, ravioli, grilled cheese, fruit cups, steamed carrots, Annie's mac n cheese shells.

Re: What are your 1 year olds eating?
I just made my DD broccoli-cheddar soup for lunch which she loved. She ate an entire cup.
She usually has yogurt for breakfast lately and oatmeal for dinner.
In any given day, I try to make sure she has some dairy, some fruit, some veggies, some protein and some grains.
For vegetables I give her lately a lot of avocado, squash, broccoli, zucchini...
For fruits she eats bananas, watermelon during the summer months, peaches, apples, berries, pears, prunes, melon...
I make her hummus (basically pureed beans)
For grains, I let her snack on whole wheat bagels, teething biscuits, rice cakes, cheerios, pasta, quinoa, and she love loves loves pizza.
For dairy... yogurt as I said, also cheeses (like cheddar, swiss, munster, mozz) and cottage cheese
Protein: salmon, white fishes, shredded rotisserie chickens, turkey meatballs or eggs- scrambled or egg salad
I guess I give her a lot of individual items rather than "meals"

For lunch DD always has fruit and yogurt. In addition, she'll have pbj, grilled cheese, a quesadilla, or cold cuts with crackers.
For dinner, I try to get her to eat whatever we're having. Some days go better than others. I'll do meatballs, meatloaf, chicken cutlets, chicken nuggets, fish sticks, pork chops. Starches include rice, pasta, bread, sweet potatoes and then a veggie like peas, green beans, squash, broccoli, carrots, asparagus. She also loves pizza.
DD will eat anything from a pouch so I give her those when we're out or if she doesn't eat great for dinner. I try to get ones that have different things than she normally eats like lentils, spinach, beets, chickpeas, etc and the ones that have at least 2 grams of protein.

What are your 1 year olds eating?
My DD is only 10mo, but eats like a champ. Breakfast is typically blueberry muffins, banana pancakes, eggs with a veggie mixed in, fruit with oatmeal.
She eats whatever lunch is provided at daycare, which is always a fruit and veggie and some sort of protein; grilled chicken, fish fillets, turkey roll ups, turkey chilli.
Dinner is whatever we are having. We make this chicken-tomato-coconut milk soup in the slow cooker that DD devours. She loves steak and grilled zucchini, pasta, veggie burgers, beans.
Basically, I call her the baby garbage disposal, if we put food in front of her, she will eat it. The only thing she can't have is dairy because she is allergic.

Re: What are your 1 year olds eating?
For breakfast, it's usually oatmeal with butter and salt, kefir fruit smoothie or eggs with salsa. I try to avoid grains at breakfast.
Lunch is usually lentils or beans with rice or eggs if she didn't have it in the morning.
Dinner is what the rest of the family is having (ie. Chicken curry, salmon or other fish, chilli, etc).
I try to offer fruits throughout the day. I also give her plain yogurt as a snack.

What is your menu for her right now?
7:00 4 oz milk bottle 8:00 breakfast (egg, oatmeal, farina, pancakes etc) 11:00 4 oz milk bottle 1:30 yogurt with cereal bar or fruit 4:30 dinner (pasta, chicken with rice, pizza ets) 7:30 6 oz milk bottle
I just need to get better at planning her meals I think.
She does drink water out of a straw sippy throughout the day but doesn't really like her milk in there yet.

Yes I make the blends. They are so easy. With a ripe banana and avocado I blend even though it's easy to mash bc dd loves it smooth. I use 1 banana and 1 avocado and I freeze little portions of it.
The broccoli/cauliflower when I steam and it's warm I add a bit of cheese so it melts and when puréed it evenly distributes.
The fruits are great to blend and so easy too. I steam the peaches and boil the blueberries. I also look at baby food labels to see what they make so I saw a prune/apple and made my own.
Most recipes or ways to cook I found at wholesomebabyfoods.com.
Even though dd is 13mos and eats table foods I feel like the purées I can get more into her. Like she'll eat a portion of spinach whereas if I cut into little bits she'll feed herself but it isn't as much as what a purée contains.

I use this brand too, she is obsessed!
I used to mix with some fruit purées I made like raspberry or blueberry but found she preferred it plain!
