I might breastfeed longer. Maybe go to 8 months.

Re: What are you going to do different for baby #2

I EBF for the first 3 months and then did a combo of BF and pumped bottles until we transitioned to milk. I will definitely introduce the bottle earlier than 3 months.Chat Icon What was I thinking...I was the only one up in the middle of the night while DH slept like a baby!!!

I'll also be more willing to let people help me out. I thought I was super-woman and could do it all (or had to do it all).

I will enforce the bottle more (EBM) and nurse. I will not let her slepp with me for as long as I did with DD. I will not be so quiet around her. I will have more patience with 2 of themChat Icon

Re: What are you going to do different for baby #2

With our #2, we did change some things. Mainly, we relaxed a lot more. Babies are not Fabergé eggs. We don't have to hover over them every second. Some times they cry just because they don't know what else to do. If they won't eat one thing, but will eat something else, that's OK. Whatever makes our life easier will benefit DC.

This is how i started my son off and he never had a problem with going to sleep on his own. I will definitely do this with #2 as well. I never really rocked DS to sleep after 3 months of age. He is a good sleeper now.

Re: What are you going to do different for baby #2

I do rock dd to sleep but she is a great sleeper...once she is asleep, she does not wake up. I am not sure how to wean her off of the rocking but lately, I have been rocking her for 5 minutes and putting her down, last night she was awake but tired when I put her down, she cried for like 2 minutes and then slept all night

Re: What are you going to do different for baby #2

I will have a BM supply and Leo will have a bottle in his hand atleast once a day to keep this baby bottle friendly.

As far as sleep goes, I don't know if I would do it differently. I don't regret holding my sleeping baby, its what he needed at the time and I loved being there for him.

ETA: I am not introducing food till 6 mos next time. Those 2 months (4-6) were a complete waste of time and added so much frustration.

Re: What are you going to do different for baby #2

I will breastfeed but not beat myself up too much if I have to go to formula and incorporate the formula at night for more sleep.

I will *try* not to agonize over every little thing. I drove myself crazy with the developmental things and I should have just went with the" develop at each owns pace theory" because Bryan did everything just a tiny bit after I had already obssessed about it to death.

With my 1st-she was the 1st baby out of everyone=friends, family, siblings, 1st grandchild, 1st niece, 1st everything. Everyone held her ALL the time, all day long and of course we were new parents and I had a loss right before i conceived her so we weren't any better. It led to a very clingly, mommy mommy mommy only baby. We never rocked her but she had to fall asleep with us there til she was about 4 months old. Then 1 night fussed like crazy until she went in her crib awake and we didn't see her until 12 hours later without CIO.

Otherwise i haven't changed a thing with #2Chat Icon but i will start table food much earlier than i did with #1.

I think I'd be more confident in my abilities having gone through it once already. I have learned so much with Ryan in terms of him, me, my marriage. Having 2 would be a whole new challenge but I think I've learned that you just do it when it comes to your kids.

Same here, I slept in the chair in the living room every night with DD until she was like 10 weeks old, and I loved every second of it b/c that's what she needed.

DD is only 9 weeks so #2 is way off, but I will definitely put him/her down and let them go to sleep instead of letting them sleep in the bouncy seat. I will breastfeed again but I think I might just exclusively pump since we had bottle issues with dd.

Re: What are you going to do different for baby #2

WORRY A LOT LESS ABOUT EVERY LITTLE THING

and then try BF'ing again (didn't work out so well with DS so I had to pump for 8 weeks until I gave up)

and tummy time earlier and more often

I think the major changes are ones that effected me moreso than my son. So far he turned out well. But I think I could have been a little easier on myself.
