What are you doing for Christmas pictures?
This will be DD's first Christmas. Trying to decide what to do for her pics. Jcp or professional. What did you do?

Re: What are you doing for Christmas pictures?
We have used a photographer for holiday pictures for the last couple of years. This year I will be using a friend of mine who is trying to start up her photography business. We're actually doing two shoots and I'll se which I use for our holiday cards. We're doing a family shoot this Saturday. We're basically doing a picnic themed shoot in a park- picnic blanket, picnic basket, cupcakes for the kids, wine and cheese for me and DH. Then another day she's going to come to my house and do the kids in my bed in their pjs- playing, reading books, playing with toys.

What are you doing for Christmas pictures?
I have a late October baby. We did Target last year because I wanted to get her first Christmas pics done close to Christmas and the professional mini sessions are mostly done early. I'm not sure what we're doing this year.

This is my DDs first Christmas too. We are doing professional pics. A friend of mine is friendly with a photographer, so she is doing a group mini session for us.

I used Target last year and we are going back again. I loved the way the pictures came out. Everyone thought I got them professionally done.

What are you doing for Christmas pictures?
DD was 8 months last Christmas and we just did our own pictures. It was easy since she wasn't moving around really so we just plopped her in the corner of the couch and snapped a bunch of pictures. Took maybe 10 minutes and I had my card ordered from shutterfly within a half hour and I got so many raves about it! <-------This was our favorite shot.

Re: What are you doing for Christmas pictures?
Last year we went to JCP and they came out adorable. If you decide to go this route try booking on Black Friday. I was able to get my entire session on a cd for $50 and I don't think I paid a sitting fee.
This year we're doing a family shoot with Fenfoto because DH wanted family pictures taken before #2 is born in April. We're hoping to do something outside.

Re: What are you doing for Christmas pictures?
For DD's first year, we did Picture People—and brought the dog. What a chaotic experience, though the pics came out cute. Her bday is in Jan so I did one year with pro photog but in order to combine for xmas cards, I would've had to do them pretty far away from first bday. The next year we did our own pics. I thought they turned out cute, considering.
Not sure what we're going to do this year. She had pro pics taken at 2.5 over the summer and I haven't really done much with those pics, so I may use one of those shots.

Re: What are you doing for Christmas pictures?
I take my own.
I just received the new Restoration Hardware Christmas cataglog for kids/babiies and have become inspired.
I am going to try and recreate some of it and get some shots. Fingers crossed I come close...because I really love it!!!

Re: What are you doing for Christmas pictures?
I do my own. I can't spend money every single year on pictures that we will look at a few times and never again I do a pretty good job too- I just get a little creative with props etc. I'm no pro by any means- but it comes out cute.

Re: What are you doing for Christmas pictures?
I do pro pics for Christmas...I just love the way Heather (Forever Fireflies) captures DD. We also do family photos during the session so its not just to get 1 pic of DD for the christmas card.

Me too! I look at Pinterest, Shutterfly, and different catalogs to get ideas. I find taking them outside is better than in my house, since I never seem to get the lighting right inside. Thinking about going to the arboretum this year and letting DD roam around in her Christmas dress to get some cute shots!
2 Christmas's ago DH bought me a DSLR camera, so I can't justify paying someone else to take the pics...I'd rather put my camera to use!

What are you doing for Christmas pictures?
When DS was first born we did professional pictures b/c the card was both his birth announcement and christmas. Last year we took the pictures and this year is professional again b/c it will be another birth announcement/chirstmas card.

Re: What are you doing for Christmas pictures?
I do professional. There are many photographers out there who offer great deals for holiday mini- shoots where you pay under $100 for the photos on a disc or digital download. Whenever I've gone to JCP or any other portrait studio I've spent way more than that on just a few pictures and was not able to have them digitally.
Also I have 4 kids so this works best for us.
I usually do the professional ones and then once we put up out tree in December I take their pictures by the tree. The ones I take by the tree usually come out really good and we use them for thank you cards and such.
