What are some paint colors besides tan that work with most everything?
We have chocolate brown, "clay" and a light tan downstairs. Our dining room is red. The entire upstairs is in need of new carpet and new paint (the walls are still white up there). I posted a pic of our runner that also continues through the hallway upstairs. What is a paint color that is a little different, but will still go with the runner pattern/color? Thanks! gold or mustard yellow
Sage green can also be neutral but I don't think it matches your stairs runner.

One of my friends did sage green with red accents. I would never think to mix the 2, but it looks really nice.

I think you could get away with a gold or yellowish paint.
We have Richmond Bisque throughout the bottom of our house & always receive compliments on it..

Why don't you do a chair railing up the stairs and do half the wall a coffeish color and the other half a nice marronish color

Gold or sage, though I'm not sure sage will go very well with your runner.

I love Desert Tan by Benjamin Moore. I have it in my kitchen and family room. It isn't tan at all (not sure why it is named that) - but more of a golden buttery yellow. I think it would really brighten your staircase / entryway and would go with your runner! Good luck!

A Taupe color always goes with most color schemes.
The gold is a good suggestion though with your runner.
