What are some items you wish you registered for?

We finished our Wedding Registry, but because I have a full set of china that has been in my family and we are having a big wedding, I could use a few more items to list. We will be moving into our first home together after we get married so there are some non-kitchen things (curtains, tv, bbq grill, etc) that we will need but I don't know if that is bad etiquette. Any advice from those who have been there? What are the things that you wished you had registered for? What are the things that were a waste?

What are some items you wish you registered for?

Just register for what you need:
Bedding
Towels
Bathroom accessories
Pots and pans
Coffee maker
Cutlery
Knives

I don't think I would put something as expensive as a tv or a bbq on a registry. Maybe your parents can split that with your inlaws.

Re: What are some items you wish you registered for?

Attachments for my kitchenaid mixer like a pasta maker or ice cream maker, an extra mixing bowl, cover.
Serving bowls.
Better kitchen knives. I went with a block set that was less expensive based on the recommendation of the person helping at fortunoff. I should have gone for individual ones that I had wanted instead.
Le Cruset Dutch oven. I did not register for one and would still like one almost ten years later.
Extra set of bed sheets.
Serving items, like pie servers, cake knife.

Register for as much as possible because whatever doesn't get purchased you will receive a completion discount on. Also, register for $ amount gift cards, that way if people don't have time to shop they wont get something you don't need and will get a gift card.

Register for extra towels and sheets because you will replace them after just a couple of years.

I would put a BBQ if we were buying a house right after we got married. It is a really nice gift that someone may want to buy you. I wouldn't put furniture like couches or tables on it.

Re: What are some items you wish you registered for?

Definitely attachments for my KitchenAid mixer.

An extra bathroom set.

Extra sheets & a light comforter for winter - we only registered for a down comforter and duvet.

Even if you have things, you may want newer for a new home.
Microwave
Toaster
Coffee Pot
Crock Pot
Blender
Utensils
Glasses
Vacuum
Steam Cleaner
Outdoor dishes
BBQ utensils
Suitcases
Bedding
Towels
Cake Server
Ice Bucket
Kitchen Gadgets
Bakewear
New Knives

You said you have China but do you have place settings, serving spoons, hostess set, drinkware, bar ware, s&p shakers, sugar bowl and creamer, gravy boat

If you don't have your home picked out yet, curtains may not be the best bet if you don't know the size and location of windows.

I've had friends put big items for the completion discount, but personally I would add them after the shower.

For me, as silly as it sounds, a garment steamer was the best thing I ever got!

Allllll these years later I still have it and it works so well.

I recommend Rowenta.

Re: What are some items you wish you registered for?

My SIL just created her registry on Zola and I wish they had this site when I was registering. It takes things from all different stores and websites and puts them onto one central registry for you. So, you could register for a grill from Home Depot, linens from Pottery Barn, pot and pans from BBB, home décor items from wherever...and it puts it all onto one registry.

A few things I wish I had registered for:

some tools for the hubby (for our house)

folding chairs since we ended up hosting Christmas several times and never had enough seating

extra set of sheets and extra towels for the bathrooms

really good kitchen towels (ones that are actually absorbent)

You could add garage storage items, garbage cans, tools etc. not sure what store you registered at

Extra towels and sheets especially if you plan to have guest rooms

Keepsakes like for a mantel.

Wall decor (I.e. A big clock or mirror)

What are some items you wish you registered for?

Not so much what I registered for, but I wish I would have registered for better quality things than I would have normally bought for myself.

I wouldn't put anything over $300 on a registry.
Extra sheets, yard tools.

What are some items you wish you registered for?

Things I liked & use: Crystal vases, cheese knives and cheese boards of wood, stone & china, serving platters, silver cake knife, a good carving set - knife and fork - to use at the dining table for family dinners and on holidays, decanters for wine or liquor, handsome picture frames in leather, silver or wood,

Think about how you will be living a few years down the road, what you might want or need, and add those things to your list. Will you be entertaining at home?

What are some items you wish you registered for?

Bathroom accessories - towels, bath mat, shower curtain, tissue box holder, etc

Doormat(s). Closet organizers. Throw blankets/pillows. Neutral servjng dishes (I personally like glass). A cake stand. DustBuster/stick vac. Picture frames.

I would pay attention to things as you do them around your house/apartment for the next few months. Any time you find yourself thinking "I wish I had X" or "I wish I had a better X," put it on your registry.

Don't register for gift cards. People can always just give you a gift card if they want, but it's kinda icky to register for them yourself.
