What a scary day! (LONG and a little TMI)

Today was a very rough pregnant day.

I was scheduled to go in to work at noon today so I figured I would get up early and do some things that I have needed to get done. Clean out car, get an oil change, etc. Well I was very nauseous this morning and ended up spending that time hugging the porcelain. It was a rough start, but I got my butt out the door and out to work.

I'm there for about an hour and I go to the bathroom because something felt weird...almost like when you have your period. Well it turned out that I had a little bleeding and a clot came out. I called the doctor's office and they asked me a ton of questions and said it sounded like I had a capillary that had come loose after the internal sono I had just had on Monday. As well, they moved up my next sono to a week and a half from now (since next week will not work for me at all).

DH and I were a wreck. He came to get me from work and we went home. We stop for an early dinner on the way home since the bleeding had stopped by the time I left work. On the way home from the restaurant I thought I felt it again. I get home and sure enough I was bleeding again. This time it was a little heavier, like a light flow day. Of course it is now after hours, so I called my OB's emergency line.

The doctor called me back within five minutes! He was so nice and so sweet. He went over everything and said that since it was light, and I was having very very light pain, he wasn't concerned that it was a m/c and that it was probably placental shifting as my uterus expands.

He was very nice and explained a lot and was very understanding. He said that he knows it doesn't help when he says that it all sounds ok and that I really would just have to sit and wait and see what happens. He told me that if I wanted I could always come into St Charles' ER, but that he felt it was a waste of my time, and if the worst were to happen, there would be nothing they could do to stop it, but it would be my choice as to whether I want to be home or in the ER and that whichever choice I make is the right choice for me. He also told me a number of signs of a m/c so that I am well informed, and also to reassure me that he doesn't feel that was happening. He also said that if I wanted, I could call the office tomorrow for a sono.

I went and took a 'little' nap...5 hours later I woke up and there was absolutely no new blood....just the brown spotting that I have been having. Now that nauseau is back really strong, but, as the doctors have told me all day, that is a very good sign.

I feel much calmer now (although who knows when I will actually get back to sleep now Chat Icon), and so thankful to the awesome staff of my OB's office who have reassured me and answered every single question I had, gave me extra information so that I would know as much as possible what was going on, and acknowledged the fact that they understand how much "wait and see but it sounds like it is ok" doesn't really help. They just made me feel so much better that even though this is scary as all he!! and they don't feel that I need to go to the ER, if I choose to they support me in that decision.

My boss also rocks because she kept me calm until DH came in, helped both of us keep calm then, and got me coverage so that I don't have to go in Saturday. She has also been checking in on me, and I know she'll call me tomorrow afternoon to see how I am feeling.

It was such a rough and scary day. I'm glad everything is better now. I'm even (somewhat) glad that I am feeling queasy again.

Thanks for listening to me, and letting me just get all this out. It also helps a lot!!!!

Chat Icon I'm glad you're feeling calmer now! I would def go in for a sono tomorrow if you can, since your dr suggested that you can do that if you would like- BUT I really think it will all be fine!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon It's just always good to have the peace of mind!!

I had 2 scares in my first tri.. for the first one, I experienced emotions I never felt before.. I was shaking- I just didn't know what to do with myself! I had to wait till the next day to go for a sono since it was evening at that point, and cried myself to sleep holding my most recent sono pic Chat Icon Turns out, it was all FINE Chat Icon .. The second time, though I freaked out again.. it wasn't nearly as bad because it had happened before so I knew I wasn't automatically doomed.. I later found out I had a small clot which caused the bleeding.

Anyway, I'm 15.5 weeks pregnant now and everything looks great! Chat Icon I'm sure your baby will be just as good!!!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon (also glad to see someone else is up at this crazy hour)

They scheduled me for a sono for the 10th, and they think that the original clot from today was something that had gotten aggrivated and dropped off because of the internal sono on Monday, so I think I'm not going to go for a sono tomorrow...I just worry about it causing another clot or something. All feels back to normal - sore boobs, peeing constantly and trying not to puke Chat Icon (interesting what we consider normal these days!) so I think I just want to wait it out. Next week will be really busy for me so the 10th will be here before I know it!

It is funny that I was so paranoid earlier, and now I am so calm!! But everything just feels 'right' again. I'm a bit of a baby over not feeling well, so I know that if something felt slightly off I would be freaking out right now, and probably dragging DH to the ER. That in itself is giving me peace of mind.

Re: What a scary day! (LONG and a little TMI)

Thanks all!!!

Miamimerger - yes my boss rocks!!!! She is very supportive in everything, and her and I (since we co-manage our location) are very close. I told her right away that I was pregnant and she made it so I don't have to work extra hours ever (we are salaried, so I wouldn't get OT for it anyway), and checks on me constantly to make sure I'm eating enough, drinking enough, etc.

I am very blessed to have the support group that I do - and you all are included in that!!

As an update, no new bleeding today and I am feeling a lot better, so this was (hopefully) just a one day thing!
