Were you a bully or ever been bullied???

With all the attention bullying is getting lately, anyone feel bad about the fact that they use to bully others? Or were you ever bullied?
We can all be honest because the past is the past.

I was bullied, but always stood up for myself. I once stood on a chair to reach the level of a much bigger bully

I was bullied because of my weight in Jr / Sr high school. But only by a few people and a few times. It was not on going, but it did hurt.

I wouldn't really call it bullied, more liked picked on every once in awhile because I was flat chested for the longest time.

I was a fat kid in junior high that had pink/blue/purple hair and liked rock music when everyone else was into pop/hip-hop.

So yeah, most definitely. I was pretty good at fighting back, but I had like three friends in school and that was it. So I didn't have much backup. LOL.

But then I went to a specialized high school where people were normal and chill, and all was right in my world.

Tons of times. My skin complexion was too dark, I looked like a boy, etc. It was bad. So glad I'm an adult now.

Yup. On the bus for years, it was horrible.

I remember making up reasons and joining things to stay after school so I could take the "late bus" or get picked up by my mom so I didn't have to see the kids on my regular route.

Thankfully I still had lots of other friends in school so I don't think it affected me as much as it could have.

Kids are awful. I also think it's probably much worse nowadays with technology and more absentee parents.

I was never a bully. I don't really remember being bullied either, maybe normal kid teasing, but nothing crazy that I can remember.

I had big thick glasses
I had gray hair
I had two different colored eyes
I was usually the new kid
My home life was messed up too

I usually took it. Until it got too much. Two girls (once in middle school, next in High School) pushed too far. I beat both bloody.

The first time at school (due to the fear she was going to have her much bigger and badder cousin beat me silly afterschool and after TONS of talking to adults and teachers with no help) beat her with locker lockpads.

Second time during the summer before my Senior year. A girl who wanted to 'prove herself' Later found out she really wanted to join a gang. She picked a fight with me and then used insults to keep pushing me. She jumped me from behind but I ended up going at her. Those days I was much leaner, much stronger and much more flexible.

But no. I never bullied. I stood up to bullies for other people. I remember watching a kid push a fat girl down the stairs. She was really big. I dropped my books ran over and used my whole body to prevent her from hitting her head on the concrete steps. I felt so bad for her. I helped pick up her books and sorta kept tabs on her from then on. She and I ended up being friends.

I was always friends with the outcast people. I had some popular friend too but if they couldn't "understand" why I hung out with the "Freaks" or "retards" I just shrug and stopped hanging out with them.

I laugh now because on FB we all are 'friends' so all those thin snotty girls are now fat and unhappy while all the chunky girls seemed to have ended up very happy in life. Some lost weight some gained, some stayed the same but they were always ok with who they were to start with. Karma

I was bullied. It was horrible. I had such low self esteem that I didn't stand up for myself.

made fun of for:
my clothes
my hair
my weight
liking to sing
wanting to be accepted
I was ignored
I was set up
I was used as a pawn to "get" others they deemed worthy of teasing

Yes I was bullied
Yes I grew up and moved on with my life, I still have a wall around me that takes many people a long time to get through and even still have my guard up, even though I still eagerly want to befriend people.

Mean Girls? yea that movie was fluff compared to my high school experience.

ETA: writing that dredged up memories and now I'm on the verge of wanting to scream and wanting to cry

Never bullied or was bullied.

Did encounter some mean girl drama (was told a boy liked me when he didn't, advised how to dress, was told to ditch certain friends because they weren't cool enough...)


I hate to admit that I still freeze up when I run into certain popular mean girls from my past, even after all these years.

I was bullied in grammar school. I took it because it was such a small school that it was either take it or be completely alone. After moving onto high school though, I was done. I've never been bullied again. Some have tried, but I refuse to let them.

I guarantee NONE of those kids who bullied me feel badly about it. I've seen them around and I doubt they even remember what they did. But I do.

ETA: And I never bullied anyone. But that's not to say I've always been nice to everyone. I've adopted the policy of I'll treat you precisely the way you treat me.

ETAA: And I did stand up for other people who were bullied. As a result, I had someone threaten to shoot me (and show me the gun). She also flicked a lit cigarette butt at me but she hit my puffy jacket and I didn't even realize until someone told me about it a few days later.

in elementary and MS mostly, i was always a chunky kid... i too, had low self esteem

Yes, by this one girl from 3rd grade through the 6th grade.

She would make fun of my lips - called me monkey lips (I have very full lips. While I can appreciate them now to a 10 year old they were the worse thing going on for me)
- the way I looked in my gym uniform and the way I played in gym
- the way I dressed (my mom was a young widow, so our clothes were hand me downs from my older cousins, who were older by more than 6 years, so the clothes weren't exactly current to the style of the time)
-the way I talked etc.

She would do all these things in front of everyone, so that I was left there standing listening to them all laugh at her jokes and teasing.

I came home crying many of times because of her.

This girl was so mean that I was happy when she got left back and switched schools.

She tried to send a request on FB to be friends. From what I saw she was still a ***** and had two little girls - let's hope she isn't teaching them to be just like she is.

I don't know if you would call it bullying... but yes I was picked on and I picked on people too.

In elementary school, yes. I was nerdy & very quiet & some kids would make fun of me sometimes. I kind of kept to myself & didn't have friends in school. Then I changed schools when I went to junior high & it was totally different... the kids were much nicer & I fit in better.

Yes, it was absolutely awful and I am still sensitive and have some damage when it comes to friends...I really hate seeing it done to anyone else..

I was a bit. I was the new girl in fifth grade from catholic school. These girls thought I was trying to become part of their group they called...ready for this...supersonic six. I have no idea why they thought this. I was new and so desperately wanted friends. One girl in particular was so effing mean to me. Made fun of my clothes, may mannerisms, etc. But as they say, Karma is a b I t c h. That same girl was probably an alcoholic at 14, another one was in rehab at 15, a few were the biggest w h o r e s in high school. I'd say only 1 turned out to be nice and funny enough she and I are best friends now. I am super sensitive to this topic and super sensitive aand protective over my daughter. I never want her to go through that. On the flip side, I'll admit, I wasn't the nicest to a girl in 8 th grade. I wouldn't say I bullied her but stopped being friends with her for no reason and to this day it bothers me how I treated her. Girls are nasty. I see it already as an elem. Ed. teacher.

I was bullied by a kid who lived down the block from me for years. He even punched me in the face and gave me a balck eye in 8th grade (I fought back ) Finally it stopped shortly after that.

I was also bullied by these 2 girls in middle school. I have no idea why they picked me but it was scary. Luckily I had a friend who knew them and he would tell me ahead of time if they planned on looking for me after school to beat me up. I would hide until the buses left and then call my mom to pick me up. Eventually a girl I knew told them to leave me alone or she would kick their a$$es. Looking back, I wish I would have stuck up for myself. But they were really intimidating and crazy.

a tiny bit when i was on LIW
