Went into an H&M today for the 1st time ever
I was very disappointed! The quality of the clothing that I saw (I mostly looked at trousers) was so shoddy! I couldn't believe they charge $35 for pants that looked like they were disposable  I could be wrong, I know a lot of you like this store. but I was so let down.

I know what you mean, I feel like they are a little over priced for the quality. I have only bought some comfy t-shirts and 1 pair of jeans (that I happen to love) there.

the line to pay was out into the mall! I honestly didn't see the draw and a few blouses and jackets I looked at felt so stiff and crappy. I've seen better stuff at Target

I agree about the quality not being that good. Even so, H&M is the BEST place for tank tops. You know, the kind to wear to the beach or under low cut shirts. They are like $5 each and they fit me perfectly! I throw them out at and buy new ones each spring. I also love their accessories.

That place is very much a hit or miss. I have a few things from there, includign pants, that I bought 2-3 years ago and they still fit well and look great. However, those are all winter clothes. I noticed that their summer stuff is much more flimsy and of lesser quality.

I have never had any luck with H&M. The only things that I have bought there are some tank tops, but other than that, nothing ever fits me right.

What really surprised me is that after watching “what not to wear” millions of times and having the utmost respect for Stacy & Clinton’s fashion sense, I cannot believe that they would suggest shopping there! they’re always so hung up on quality and some of the stores they send those girls to are SO expensive. But H&M is recommended on their show a lot!! Strange.

I am sure plently of people will disagree with me and you (and that's fine!), but I agree that the quality lacks. However, I do think that for for basics and "fun" stuff, it's decent.

I shopped there several times a week when I was living in London....when it opened here I was so psyched, and I have to say I was so disappointed. I've gotten quite a few things there, but only stuff I knew was for that season only - not to be kept for a few years. It's too bad, the H&M there was so great!

Oh, I agree wtih you. I went into it once and that was it. Was not impressed at all. Everyone keeps telling me to try again and look at baby clothes, I just cna't get myself to go there again.

its hit or miss there
pants are expensive for some reason
but i find that i buy most when their stuff goes on clearance
also their shirts and tank tops and button downs and sweaters are all a good bargain at $7-25

I agree the place is hit or miss. I bought some cute things there a few years ago that I still wear... but havent been there for a long time, even before pregnancy... I went through a heavy period when I was sick a few years ago, and found they had nicer things for larger sizes - like 12 - then they do for smaller... JMO...

I agree. I did notice that some stores in LI didn't carry the same clothes as in manhattan.
I think it is known that H&M doesn't make "quality" clothing. But, I love their summer clothes.

I used to shop there 4 or 5 years ago. I got some cute stuff and I still wear some of it (mostly sun dresses). The last few times I looked in H&M I thought the quality had definitely dropped and the clothes were too trendy for me. It reminds me of Forever 21 now.

I was only in one once. And I dont think I came out of that store fast enough. Horrible! Just from what I saw anyway. Never went back.

I went there yesterday and I did well. I got tops for work- basic v-necks, sleeveless turtlenecks, regular turtlenecks and a nice buttondown. It took me a looong time to find something I like. We dont have H&Ms in Australia so I wanted to get some clothes, b/c they are cheap and have better quality than cheap clothes in Australia.
