Well, it's official
things are definately not right. I went to the doctor on Tuesday to ask for a prescription for Clomid. DH and I have been trying for 6 months now and nothing has happened, so I figured that Clomid would be a way to move things along. I'm almost 38 and don't have alot of time to waste anymore. So, he took blood and gave me the prescription. The doctor called me this morning and said that based on my progesterone level, it is probably a good idea that I take the Clomid. He also said that I need to go back around day 24 or 25 to have blood drawn again to see if I ovulated on the 50mg dose. I feel kind of happy and sad at the same time. I'm sad that there is something wrong, but I'm happy I guess that I know something is wrong so I can start working on fixing it. Does that make sense?
As far as this month goes, I got a + on the OPK on day 17. I'm now at day 31 and still no AF and no BFP. So, I don't know what's going on. I guess if I were PG the doctor would have seen that on the bloodwork, right?
The doc also said that at any point he can send me to an RE. I just don't know what they will do for me that my doc isn't already. What do you think, for those of you who are using one?

Re: Well, it's official
first of all
next, i think that it's great that you are taking steps in the right direction. Don't feel that there is something wrong with you - you just need a little help to get pregnant. that is totally normal, many women take clomid and go on to have successful pregnancies.
Finally, I would recommend going to an RE. One, it can't hurt and two, you may find that you feel more comfortable going to an office where there wont be a ton of pregnant women around. I just feel like going to a regular OB/GYN while having fertility issues is very difficult, and if you can avoid that, i would.
Good luck!

I know it sucks figuring out things are not right but I do agree...moving on to an RE is probably your best choice. They may have a better plan of action for you than your GYN. Good Luck!!!

As a person that is older and having problems TTC I understand the desire to be proactive. I am however shocked your MD gave you a script for Clomid before doing bloodwork and actually having the results in his/her hand. I highly recommend going to see an RE (or at the very least attending the seminar that is being advertised on this site). They can tell you things a regular GYN cannot.

I would love to go to the seminar, but I have a prior commitment that night. And I am really considering going to an RE now. As far as my doc goes, I think he gave me the script when I was there, knowing that he was doing the bloodwork, and saving me the trip back in for the script if the bloodwork showed that I needed it (which I apparently do).
