weight loss advice

I am still nursing my 18 month old and seem to be holding onto this weight, last 8lbs. No matter what I do, it is not budging. I tried ww and just portion cutting. I dont have time right now to exercise and its too cold out to bring him out for walks now. I am very frustrated. i have heard people say if you still nurse after a year it may hold your weight. I also dont get great sleep so I am sure that is a factor. Has anyone had this happen to them, any advice.

Re: weight loss advice

I noticed with myself it was easier to loose weight when I stopped breastfeeding. Everyone is different. Just keep doing what you're doing.

I agree, your body holds onto a "reserve" to always make sure there is something for the baby. It'll come off when you're done.

I never lost the last 15 lbs and I think it's due to still BF.

This! Dropped the last 8-10lbs soon as I finished pumping for DD.

Really? I thought you gained weight when you stopped bf-ing bc you would stop burning all those calories it takes to make the b-milk. Glad to hear when I stop I'll get to lose and not gain!

I quit WW and started a free program called My Fitness Pal. it's very similar to WW in tracking, but you're really just counting calories. I've lost 32 pounds so far.

I'm convinced WW started creating algorithms to make you lose a nice chunk of weight in the beginning, then you just keep losing and gaining the same 5lbs after a while. This seemed to be the trend in the meeting I attended for a year.

I'm in the same boat as you and had no idea that nursing can make you hold on to the weight. Hopefully we will both lose the excess once we stop nursing. My son is also 18 months and it feels like the end is not near.

Same for me! I am insanely hungry when I breastfeed, but when I stop my appetite returns to normal!

I know me too, no end is near. I know that you loose alot when you are exclusively breastfeeding but when you do not nurse as often I have been told your body retails the weight for the milk for the baby. I have been the same weight for over a year. so that sounds like what is happening.
