Weight lose and excerise

im going lay ot out.. Im 5'1 1/2. I just recently lost weight I went from 112 to 109. I haven't been this weight in about 3-4 yrs. I have maintained it with Weight Watchers. I follow that pretty religiously. ( not to loose anymore weight but to maintain) I exercise about 3-4 times a week. I do the elliptical for 30 minutes. No weights or anything. Do you think exercise, a little weight lose can effect fertility???TIA

No....weight would affect fertility if you were overweight..usually more then 30 lbs, which your clearly not.

Re: Weight lose and excerise

Estrogen is stored in body fat. If you have too much or too little body fat, it can cause an issue with fertility.

A girl I became friends with from FF has annovulatory cycles, due to the fact that she has very low body fat. She is not storing enough estrogen....and therefore, not able to ovulate. Instead of her ob/gyn putting her on clomid...she asked her to see a nutritionist.

Re: Weight lose and excerise

I've read (and seen with friends) that it is not healthy to extreme diet or extreme excercise before or while TTC. I'm 5'6 so I really have no conception of where your weight falls on the range for your height but, if it is on the lower end and you have been dieting and exercising more than usual I definitely think it would have an impact.

I've also read that certain diets including low carb are not good when you are ttc or in the early stages of pregnancy.

Were you overweight before you started dieting? If not, why would you go on a diet while ttc?

i am in range of my height and weight and not under by any means. however i just got nervous thinking that loosing the weight might of caused ovulation problems. i was on BC for many yrs and an anti depressent which made me gain 15lbs. Im off all that now. I actually dropped weight alone from that. We started trying in august but in june i joined a gym and i started watching what i ate bc i wanted a healthy body before the pregnancy. plus i want to hopefully be able to bounce back.

Re: Weight lose and excerise

It sounds like you were doing it healthy so I'm sure its fine! Everything in moderation and be healthy! I would ask your doctor though to see what he says.

I wanted to lose the 10lbs I gained since my wedding before TTC although being within the normal range for my height. My doctor said that its not good to diet when TTC unless you *need* to lose the weight. But, a combination of good eating and exercise I'm sure is fine.
