Wedding Question
I think I already know what you guys will say but I figured I would throw it out there anyway.
We have a wedding on July 7th. Originally I thought if I had my baby on or by my due date I would be ready to go to this wedding.
BUT - now that it's almost the end of June I don't really see making it there. I am assuming if I have him around June 25th or so that a week and a half isn't enough time for me to recover and want to party all night long.
I know that they have to give their headcount in by Monday so I really need to decide what I want to do. I really like this couple and would like to be there - I just don't think I will physically make it (besides the fact that I will then need to go out and buy a dress bc god knows what size I'll be at that point)
DH will go either way for a few hours. You all think I should sit this one out right?!

I don't think you will be up to it
plus - if you have a c-section it will take a little longer to recover

Re: Wedding Question
We had Lucas on May 27th and we have a Christening on June 23rd. I am not going but DH will go. It's just too soon to be out - especially with DS.
Personally, I would say sit this one out. You're going to be exhausted from everything going on and this will be the last thing you'll want to do...IMO.

I know, that's what I figured, but the old partier in me really was looking forward to a night out. It is way too soon though. And, I've never been to Chateau La Mer so I was excited to go. Oh well, I'm sure there will be plenty more weddings to come!

Re: Wedding Question
I would tell them that you're not going...but if you're feeling up to it you would come to see the ceremony. That way you can still be there for the most important part and you don't have to worry about them paying for you if you can't be there for the reception.

How funny! My DH has known the groom forever (since grammar school) but I love his wife. I bet it's the same. Bride's last name is Arpino?!

I agree, I'd sit this one out, no telling how you'll be feeling & how exhausted you'll be.

Go - Go - Go!!!! You will WANT to get out of the house, trust me. You may not feel 100% up to it but you will appreciate the night out with DH! That's my opinion anyway! And if you need a sitter - call me I'd love to hold and squeeze little Jack...that is if you have him by then! Kidding.

COME ON?!!! You really think so. I don't even know if I will have this baby by the 27th - and I have no clue if it will be a csection or vaginal. I don't wnat to end up screwing them by saying I will go - and then not showing up. I think if it was one week later I would def. go but it's just too close for comfort I think.
I think about Donna's post yesterday on Parenting - and she couldn't even leave Noah to go to a doctors appt yet. I'm thinking I will def. be the same way.
ETA: I may come over there right now and kick you for your little "If you have him by then" comment missy!!!!! You better watch it! Don't mess with a crazy Italian chick who is almost 41 weeks pregnant.

YEP! How funny! Such a small world!!
My parents can't go since my docs scheduled my c section for 7/6 and my due date is 7/12. They feel so horrible, her parents came to mine and my bro's wedding festivities. Such bad timing, her shower was the same day as my daughters 1st birthday party.
They are a great family!

What time is the wedding - day or night? I went to a black tie 3 weeks after giving birth. I also was cleaning my bathroom the next week. I was fine, so I guess you can't go by me. My cousin had a baby and the day after she got home from the hospital went to a wedding. You can always leave early.

What a small world! I LOVE Lisa which is why I am so bummed about not being able to make it to the wedding. I was at the shower too (I almost made that Chinese Buffet place go out of business with how much I ate lol)

Get out really?! Now you are making me rethink this. Maybe I just go for cocktail hour and stay until like 10pm?! It's not like I'll be the dancing maniac that I normally am.
The last wedding we went to - I was 29 weeks preggo and dancing it up - the bride and groom say that people to this day still ask them "Who was the pregnant girl all over the dance floor" --- You know me Dags - you can't hold me down!

Re: Wedding Question
I would definitely send DH, like you are. I don't get why couples can't just have one go to represent, the whole if I can't go, he won't go thing...anyhow. I might RSVP one for the reception, have your DH go to that, and try to make the ceremony yourself depending on how baby is doing that day. That way if you feel good you can see the couple and wish them well, but if that day isn't going well you don't cost them a plate for a no show.

Re: Wedding Question
I think it's better to tell them that you are not going (we all know how brides hate paying for unused plates), but if you feel up to it a few days before you can let her know.
I went to an engagement party 1 month after c/s and I was fine. But a lot of healing takes place between 2 and 4 weeks.

Re: Wedding Question
HA - You are really asking for it!
I would never make DH not go - I don't understand people that do that either. I may tell her no for now and see if when the date gets closer if she can add me on. I remember being able to add on - but not take off.
I do think that if I go for cocktail hour through about 10pm that should be fine. I'll talk to DH tonight.

Re: Wedding Question
i also have my best friends wedding a week from sat (june 30th) and i pretty much told her no, i did say i would possibly try to at least come to the ceremony but being that i haven't even given birth yet, i don't think that is happening, her reception place did tell her if i change my mind she can let them know like the day before, but i think it'll be too soon, if it was in the end of july then i would prob consider it though

Re: Wedding Question
My best friend had a C-section about a week and a half before my wedding. She came to the church for the ceremony, but didn't make the reception. I told her to come to the Cocktail hour, because how would they really know if one or two extra people showed up?
My cousin came to my sister's wedding ceremony and cocktail hour with the baby and then left after that. The baby was quiet - we never heard a peep from her. Maybe you could do that?
